Autumn

It's been about a week since the ceremony and we wasted no time in getting rid of that girl. Yes, I did want her dead, I mean she should be dead but honestly i feel for Mason.

I understand him after hearing that story and in the same way he shows he understands me in helping me find the farthest pack on a very secluded island. It's a small pack of female wolves so there'll be no man for her to steal, unless she goes both ways... anyways that's not my business! All I care about is the fact that she's finally gone.

Mason was sound asleep next to me, his tattoo covered arm wrapped around my hips. I noticed one of the tattoos were a giant tree and inside of the tree stump it had words written. I took a closer look trying to make out what it said.

"A-aki" I whispered trying to pronounce it

"Akila" he said, I looked over at him and his eyes were still closed but I knew he was awake

"What's that?" I asked tracing over his tattoo

"My mothers name," he said when I looked back his eyes were open

"It's beautiful," I said, truly it was a beautiful name, there were other names inside of the tree

Arden, Phelise, Yoree, Lael... and it went on and on

"It's my pack, my old pack... I got their wolf names put on me to never lose that connection" he said allowing me to sit up and examine it better.

The details were made nicely on the tree, his family tree. I felt dearly for him, imagine having your family ripped away from you like that, right before your eyes... and having to see the damage that was done after.

I didn't even notice I was crying until a tear fell on his arm. He sat up as well putting his arm around me and swiftly placing me on his lap having me face him.

"You don't have to cry Angel," he said wiping my tears

"I'm sorry- it's just heartbreaking, I'm so sorry you had to go through that" I said, my heart was heavy

He pulled me into his chest and kissed my head and forehead repeatedly, "it's fine mama, it won't ever happen again I won't lose my family twice" he comforted, "ill protect you and everyone in here with everything I've got"

I felt like I was grieving, this mate thing is more serious than I thought. A couple minutes later I felt him shuffle under me, "I got something for you" he said

I raised my head from his chest and he reached in the nightstand drawer taking out a little box, it had a cute little necklace with a black stone that was being held by a golden wire.

"It's a black tourmaline, to protect you." He said, " my mom used to wear these red garnet stone raindrop shaped earrings, for good health and courage and passion" he said

"And she never lacked any of those," I smiled as I looked at the pretty necklace

"It's beautiful Mason," I said he smiled back and sat up to put it on me

Everything finally felt normal at least as normal as it gets in this place. I played with the stone and smiled to myself. I felt masons eyes on me and his hand rested on my thigh
