Chapter 48

"Has it really been five weeks?" I asked walking around Dr.Hawkins office
"Yes it has." She smiled
"But what if I get urges or Im not ready. I work at a coffee shop that is for addicts and they still use." I said frustrated
"You have all the tools. You can still work there. Get your training position back. Be a positive influence on them and help them get clean." She said encouraging me
"Im going to go back to school online." I said smiling
"I know we have talked about it. Have you decided?" She asked
"Yes. Drug abuse counseling. You really have showed me that your job is important. I think Im going to do the coffee shop idea but offer counseling to them. I feel like that works best for me. I get to stay busy working but giving those like me a chance to recover and build skills." I said smiling wanting that dream to come true
"This is our last session before you walk out those doors and never come back. Do you have anything to ask me?" She said nonchalantly
"Why?" I asked hoping she would know what I was asking
"I was addicted like you and Abby. My life was slowly spiraling out of control. I lost a baby too because of drugs. My boyfriend and now husband was in the Marines and I  used drugs to numb the pain of him being gone. He came home to me passed out in the floor from and overdoes and took me to an intensive rehab center. I got my degree and worked around at other places before finding here. I have been clean for fifteen years." She smiled giving me hope
"You are one of the good ones Charlotte Holt. Take this experience and change your life. I have given Tyler contact information to a self help group of all previous members who meet once a month as well as to another psychologist for if you want to continue seeing one." She smiled standing up
"I cant see you anymore?" I asked knowing I put all my trust into her
"You can if you want to. I have a separate office   but I am only open Tuesdays and Thursdays. I might have an emergency and have to cancel those hours though." She said making me feel better that I can still see her
"I will give you a call." I said walking over to her
"You got this." She said pulling me into a hug before guiding me out to the main lobby
"I think your man is out there." She said pointing towards the door where Tyler was standing next to his car with a huge vase of flowers
"Go get him." She whispered giving me the ok to take off
"Ive missed you." I said flinging myself onto him
"Ive missed you too." He said getting choked up
"Im sorry." I said still having my legs wrapped around him
"Thats not apart of the program is it?" He asked wiping my tears away
"No." I said laughing
"Im better Tyler. Thank you." I said as he pulled me closer and gave me a deep passionate kiss
"I told you I would never let you go." He said after pulling away
"Can we go home please?" I asked missing our apartment
"Yes we can." He said putting me back down and kissing my forehead
"So was the program ok?" He asked nervously rubbing his thumb as he held on to my hand
"Yes. I hated it the first week and had urges and was mad at you. But after that I got over it. You are only wanting to help me and I appreciate it and took everything that I could and challenged myself." I smiled looking over at him
"Really now?" He asked with his stupid smirk
"Yes and Abby was there and we made up." I laughed seeing his reaction
"I thought she was a terrible person." He said confused
"No. She was like me confused with how her life was. We talked about it and shes moving to New York." I said making it simple
"What else?" He asked knowing I was hiding something
"The girl I was going to mentor overdosed while I was meeting with Dr.Hawkins. She was admitted to the intensive rehab and I never saw her again. Dr. Hawkins said she was alive but just needed that extra help the normal program couldnt offer her." I said remembering the whole day
"Im so damn proud of you." He said as I just smiled
"Game tonight?" I asked
"Yes. Home game against the Sharks." He said
"Uhg babe I have missed watching you play hockey. And I finally get to wear the jacket." I said excitedly
"I cant wait to see you there." He said as we finally got into DC.
"So I heard something about a dog right when we were in Canada." I mentioned as we drove pass the memorials
"How about when we get a new apartment." He laughed pulling into the parking garage
"Fine." I laughed having to much energy to be back home
"You still have a suitcase to get." He laughed as I started to walk towards the elevator
"Shit." I groaned walking back seeing him walking with it
"I just want to lay down on my bed. Ive missed it." I laughed as he rolled his eyes
"Im pretty sure its my bed and you took it over." He said sarcastically as we got off
"Keys?" I asked so I could open the door
"Surprise!" People yelled as I walked in now seeing JJ, Will, Nate and a few guys from the team, Kelly and baby Jax, and surprising me even more Abby and my mom
"Im glad you are back." JJ said giving me a big hug
"I am so sorry I didnt see the signs better." She whispered as her eyes filled with tears
"Its fine. I forgive you." I said as mine filled too
"Dont forget about me." Nate said pulling me into a big hug with Kelly by his side holding Jax
"He has gotten so big." I laughed being passed him seeing the big ring on her finger
"Finally." I laughed looking at it closer
"Give me my child." Nate said taking Jax from me
"I wasnt sure if you would want me to come but Tyler invited me and Matt but you know how he is." My mom said as I played with my ring
"Mom. Im sorry but I cant do this with you here right now. Can we talk another time?" I asked as she just nodded and said yes letting me go see everyone else who came
"Alright now everyone out. Char has to make me some grilled cheeses because it has been five painful weeks that I have had to eat burnt ones. We will see you at the game." Tyler yelled getting everyone out
"That was rude." I laughed as he walked over to me
"I lied to them. I wanted you alone." He said picking me up over his shoulder and walking towards our room dropping me on the bed
"I needed alone time with you." He said hovering over me before kissing my neck making me moan
"I am more then ok with that then." I whispered taking it all in
