MONDAY

 

Dear diary,

my dad knows.

He knows.

I was sitting on my bed, watching YouTube videos when it knocked on my door and my dad stepped into my room. 

"Do you have some time for me? I think we need to talk," he said and sat down on my bed. I closed my laptop and nodded.

"Sure. Did I do something wrong?" I asked confused.

"No, absolutely not. Everything's okay. I just wanted to ask you something."

"Okay, go ahead."

"Mike, are you gay?"

"W-What?"

"Are you gay?"

"I-I, w-why are you asking me something like that?" I asked.

I was really nervous.

"Because I saw you and Calum holding hands," he said.

"No, you didn't."

He sighed, "Michael, it's okay. You can tell me."

I looked at my hands and nodded.

"Yeah, I guess I am," I finally said.

He smiled, "That's okay. For how long do you know?"

I shrugged, "I don't know. I guess since I know Calum I started to have these strange feelings towards him. I like him, really. Uh, yeah."

"So, is he your boyfriend?" dad asked.

"No, not yet."

I smiled at the thought of Calum being my boyfriend.

"Calum seems like a nice guy."

"He is. He's really sweet and he cares about me a lot. On Saturday we had our first date and it was so beautiful and I'm rambling, sorry."

"It's okay, I'm happy that you're happy," he said. It was silent for a few minutes.

"So, you still love me even though I like boys?" I asked.

"Of course, you're still the same. I don't care who you're with, as long as you're happy everything's fine."

I hugged him, "Thank you."

"Don't thank me for that. Do you want to tell your mother?"

I shook my head, "No, I don't feel like it yet."

"Okay. Uh, I think dinner's ready in an hour."

I nodded and he got up from the bed and left my room.

I kind of felt relieved. It was a good feeling.

That happened and I'm glad it did.

I was really scared that dad would hate me now, you know? But he was so cool with it, I'm so happy.

I'm happy a lot lately but I guess that's a good thing.
