After eating several cookies and a small piece of pumpkin bread, Dakota seems a tad bit more satisfied than he was previously.

"You know, if you keep stuffing your face with carbs and sugar, you're going to end up with fat rolls instead of that six pack of yours that, need I remind you, you worked all last summer for." I remind him as I nibble on my first cookie.

He waves me off, rolling his eyes. "My metabolism is made of steel as it's powered by my pure and authentic masculinity. These abs will remain, my dear sister." He winks, earning a snort from me.

"You wouldn't know masculinity if it hit you in your masculinity." I laugh.

Dakota's eyebrows furrow as he subtlety crosses his legs as if he's afraid I'll hit him.

"Oh my gosh, I didn't mean that." I burst into a fit of laughter, throwing a single cookie at him, hitting him in the face. This makes me laugh harder.

I hear footsteps coming back up from the basement and my head quickly darts in that direction to see Winter standing there slightly out of breath.

"Why'd you go down there? I didn't even notice you were gone." I say, chewing on a snickerdoodle.

He eyeballs the food in my hand. "Well that's reassuring. It's nice to know that if I go missing, no one will notice. I am at ease." He mumbles sarcastically.

I laugh a little, looking behind him at the open door leading down those demonic wooden steps. "What were you looking for?"

Winter blows air through his cheeks in frustration, his hand running through his dark brown hair as the light from several candles around the room flicker over his skin. "The generator needs gas. It won't work without it."

"Crap. And there wasn't any down there?" I ask.

His head shakes and he sits on the couch next to me. "We might keep some out in the garage but the last I saw it, it was out in the shed."

"Outside?" Dakotas asks, his brows furrowing in concern. "How will we get it? It's a freaking blizzard out there."

"He's right." I wring my hands together with a sigh. "We might as well just make do without it. Who knows, it might blow over by tomorrow and then we can go back to our house. And even if we could get out there, we might as well just go back home so what's the point." I say.

Winter gives me a skeptical look. "All of our parents are over thirty minutes away. You two would be over there alone. This storm could last for days. Do you guys have a generator?"
