"Ibuki, do you really think this is a good idea?" You nibbled on your bottom lip, contemplating the possibilities. "Maybe I shouldn't go through with this-"

"(Y/N), you better knock that bullshit off. Ibuki knows all about love! So, follow Ibuki's advice and go fucking ask her out!"

"Alright, alright." Gathering up all the courage you could, you began to walk towards your crush. "Wish me luck, Ibuki."

Taking a deep breath, you approached your crush, Peko Pekoyama. You had a huge crush on the swordswoman, but you couldn't just tell her that.

You weren't sure if Peko was gay, and that wasn't really something you could just casually bring up in a conversation. You had avoided asking her out because you were afraid she was straight. But you couldn't just hide your feelings forever.

Tapping on Peko's shoulder, you smiled innocently at her. She stopped her conversation with Sonia, turning to look at you.

"Hey, Peko! Can I talk to you about something? In private?" You asked her, lowering you voice at the end.

"Of course," she told you, following you out into the hall. Once you got out there, she looked at you with a concerned face. "What's troubling you, (Y/N)?"

God, even the way she said your name sent shivers down your spine. You could feel yourself blushing, and you internally scolded yourself. Taking a deep breath, you prepared yourself to ask her the question that had been on your mind for a while. It was now or never.

"Willyougooutwithme?" you asked, spitting the words out of your mouth as fast as you could.

Unfortunately for you, she didn't catch what you said. "I'm sorry, could you repeat that?"

"Will you go out with me?!" You blurted out, practically yelling it. You immediately covered your mouth with your hands, your eyes widening. Well, that was done with.

Peko's red eyes widened, an almost unnoticeable blush spreading across her pale cheeks. She fell silent, and you longed for her to just say something.

Her hands twitched at her side as she nervously looked around. "Um...I don't...I don't really know if this is a good idea..."

Your heart broke at that statement. A frown settled onto your face, and you couldn't help but let your disappointment show through. You were afraid that it would end up like this.

"I-I understand," you stuttered, offering her a weak smile. "I'll just be going now, I guess. Sorry, it was stupid of me to ask."

Quickly turning away so she wouldn't see the tears that were coming to your eyes, you headed to the bathroom.

That could've gone a lot better.

* * *

It wasn't that Peko didn't like you - no, she absolutely adored you - it was the fact that she didn't know how to feel. She was confused, never really giving her sexuality a thought.

The LGBTQ+ community wasn't something really spoken about. Some people accepted it, and some people shunned it. Peko supposed that if she were to come out,l then she would have a chance at being shunned by her own friends about how she felt.

No one really cares about how she felt, did they? But that was her job. She put others before herself. But here was (Y/N), trying to figure out how Peko felt.

(Y/N) was really the only one who seemed to actually care about what Peko had to say. She knew Peko had a voice that needed to be heard, and she respected that. In (Y/N)'s mind, Peko came first.

They were so similar, but so different at the same time. They kept putting each other first instead of worrying about their own wellbeing, and that could only result in someone getting hurt.

In this case, it was (Y/N).

She was so worried about how Peko felt that she didn't really give her own wellbeing a thought. When Peko had responded the way she did, she could see the momentary hurt flash across (Y/N)'s face. (Y/N) was trying so hard to respect Peko's opinion that she didn't give herself a voice.

Watching as (Y/N) ran off, Peko knew what she had to do. She had to make things right. This time, both of them came first.

"(Y/N), why do you do this to yourself?"

You looked up from your spot at the bathroom sink, eyes landing on Peko. You offered her a weak smile, although you were pretty sure you looked like absolutely shit at the moment.

"Do what to myself, Peko?" You asked innocently, trying to pass an obvious lie off as the truth.

Peko sighed, approaching your side. She forced you to look into the mirror, and you were horrified at you own reflection.

Your eyes were red from your crying while your skin had become red and blotchy. You skin was still glossy with tears you had yet to dry. Your hair was a frazzled mess as you had been pulling at it for the past five minutes. You had really let yourself go.

"You care too much, (Y/N)," she said quietly, looking at your broken figure. "You care too much about what other people think, and you don't even give your own wellbeing a second thought. You're slowly killing yourself, (Y/N)."

"But aren't I being selfish if I don't put other people's feelings into account?" You asked, completely lost with what you were supposed to do.

"You keep forgetting that you matter too, (Y/N)," Peko said, grabbing your shoulders. "Just look at yourself."

Laughing a bit, you wiped your tears away. "I guess I am pretty pathetic, aren't I? I could use a little TLC."

Peko intertwined her fingers with yours causing you to blush. You were taken aback by the sudden gesture. Didn't she not like you that way?

"We can make this work, (Y/N)," Peko told you. "All you have to do is take care of yourself. I can hold my own."

"Alright, Peko."

"Hey (Y/N)? Thanks for caring about how I feel."

And another request down. There's so many, I'm literally drowning in requests.
