As Josiah reached to grab her she swung the blade cutting his chest. That didn't stop him from grabbing her from the neck and knocking the blade once again from her grasp.

Layla struggled to breathe as Josiah held her up against the wall. "He messed with the wrong people now he has Vizzini after me think I betrayed him. I don't want to hurt you but I have to just to prove my loyalty. Or else Vizzini is gonna kill—"

Layla jerked up in bed clutching the sheets. Two weeks had passed and she was still laid up in the hospital. The doctors said she would be out in a few days and she couldn't wait. Layla was always the one helping never the one to be helped— so this hospital experience was nerve wracking.

Her bruising was down to a minimum and her nose was healed. She was now only recovering from the ruptured spleen and cracked ribs which caused her abdomen to be tender.

She checked her phone it was 2am. Looking to her right, her father laid on the couch sleeping. She constantly told him she would be okay staying by herself overnight, she rather him sleeping in an actual bed instead of the hospital's cheap ass chairs.

This was an everyday routine. She would wake up from a nightmare anytime after midnight then browse Instagram until morning. Launching the app, she scrolled, liking only a few posts. Soon she came across a post from Rell with Maddison.
