Emily woke up to a knock on her door. She decided to not say anything hoping the person will leave her alone. No such luck. The knock came again, this time harder.

"Emily, wake your lazy ass up. everyone is up except you!" God, that woman is such a bitter wench, Emily thought. Mrs Hurdley knocked again "Emily, get up this instant or I am firing you". she threatened. Ugh. She pulled the cover off and climbed out of bed. She felt woozy when she stood and quickly sat back. Served her right for standing up too quickly she scolded. Mrs hurdley would not stop however. She knocked on the door again

"Em.." she stopped when Emily opened the door. Wiping my eyes with the back of her hands to get rid of the sleep in them "Good morning Mrs Hurdley" she said hoarsely.

Mrs hurdley eyed her warily "Why are you still sleeping when everyone else is out working?. do you think we pay you to sleep away the day, you ungrateful little witch!" she said furiously. Emily yawned and stretched "I'm sorry. I went to sleep late last night"
"I don't care what time you went to bed, there is absolutely no excuse for you to still be in at noon"

Emily's eyes widened "Noon?" What the hell?. She has never slept in before, EVER. She didn't even realize she had slept so much. Something had to be wrong.

"Um..my clock must be wrong. I didn't realized it was that late in the morning" Mrs Hurdley dismissed her excuse with a wave of her hand "Whatever. I need you to come make my bed and do your job. Got it?"

"Yes ma. Right away". She closed her door when the lady of the house turned and left. She yawned and turned to walk to her dresser to get her work clothes but stopped short when she saw the time on the clock on her night stand. 12:10. What the hell? She really had slept the day off, no wonder the old lady was furious. Emily frowned staring at her clock on the reading table. She had even slept through her alarm that was set for 7:30. She must have been really tired to sleep through the awful noise the alarm made. Strange. That had never happened before, Mornings were usually her thing. She could still wake up bright and early even with two to three hours of sleep. She shook her head to get rid of the turmoil in her mind, before taking her work clothes and walking to the bathroom.

It wasn't locked. No doubt, the rest of the staff were busy with their duties. She quickly brushed her teeth, peed and washed her face. She would have to take a shower later, besides she took one last night anyways. She took her panties off and washed her self off with soap and warm water. She noticed her pad was dry but didn't think too much of it since that's the norm after all. Her period would stop for a day then starts again. She remembered how embarrassed she was in high school when she realized the irregular patterns of her period. She had thought she had finished when she didn't bleed for a whole day so the next day, she didn't use a pad. Shockingly, it came back and hard that her panties was soaked . She ran to the bathroom to use some tissues since she had no pad with her. "Oh my God. This can't be happening to me" she muttered alarmed.

"Are you ok?" A small and soft voice asked her "No" she groaned "I thought I was done with my period, but Mother Nature had other ideas"

The girl giggle "I know what you mean. Thank God I am always prepared" Emily sighed loudly. Phew. "Um. Do you happen to have one with you now?"she asked hopeful

"Yea. Hold on" Emily heard shuffling, probably the girl ruffling through her bag to find it. She heard foot step then a pair of ballet flat came into view. "Here. Catch "she heard the girl say from the other side of the door.

Emily readied herself to catch it but it landed by her feet instead. She picked up the pad which was in a very colorful pack and looked it over. Interesting. She usually used the ones in a plain pack since she gets them from her foster moms. This must be what teenagers use.

"Thanks. You are a life saver" saved her from humiliating herself all day at school.

"No problem" the girl with the soft voice spoke again "We ladies need to stick together unlike Mother Nature. You would think she would be on our side"

Emily couldn't help but laughed, the girl was funny. "What your name?" She asked but got no answer. The girl had already left the bathroom. Emily learned from that day to always be prepared and still put a new pad even when there was no flow.

Realizing she need to keep moving, she snapped out of her memories. She got a new pad from under the sink, put it on and put on a new panties. She quickly put her uniform on and walked out the day to start the day.

A/N

I know its short. Think of it as an interlude or a transition. The next one will be longer and definitely the game changer. I will update that this weekend.
