Makoto felt guilty about lying to Haru, but he would have felt worse if he told Haru that he broke his promise. He locked himself in his room and is currently lying on his back. He stared at the blank ceiling and sighed to himself.
"Maybe I should just tell him." Makoto pondered. Then all of this guilt would be gone. But he didn't want to see the look of disappointment in his best friends eyes.
"He'll understand. He is your best friend. He won't be mad."
Makotos inner monologue was interrupted by a knock on his door.
"Come in." Makoto muttered.
Haru peeked his head through the door before he walked into the room. He had just gotten out of the shower and wasn't wearing a shirt. His black hair was still dripping water droplets onto the carpet of Makotos bedroom floor. Water still shimmered on his bare skin and Makoto was sure he was drooling.
Haru sat himself down on the bed so he was facing Makoto. "Makoto, you've been spaced out a lot lately. I'm- I'm worried." Haru said awkwardly. Haru wasn't the type to share how he truly felt and Makoto was shocked to say the least. Haru looked up at Makotos eyes and continued with a deep breath. "I know you, Makoto. I know that you lied to me. I'm not angry, I understand. I just don't want you to think that you have to lie in order for me to be your friend. We've been best friends since kindergarten, something like this would never make me want to abandon you."
Makotos eyes watered and he blinked rapidly, trying desperately to not let the tears fall.
"So, Makoto. I will ask this again. Did you cut? I'm not going to be mad or upset or disappointed. All I want is to help you."
Makoto hesitated for a second, trying to comprehend what he had just heard. Makoto took a stifled breath and chocked out a "yes".
Haru nodded and continued to observe his friend.
"I'm sorry, Haruka. Haru-ka. I'm sorry!" Makoto could no longer control the tears that were now flowing freely from his troubled eyes.

Haru looked at his lap before talking again. "Umm, can I see?"
Makoto looked up in shock.
"Why would he want to see? Wouldn't it just upset him?"
Makoto nodded anyway and took his sweatshirt off. Haru acooted closet and grabbed his friends hand and brought it towards him. He carefully undid the bandage that was slightly darker in some spots. Haru observed each slash in Makotos skin carefully. They appeared to be healing well and there was no infections.
Then Haru did something more unexpected than anything else that Makoto has ever seen.
Haru leaned down towards his arm. His body heat was greeting Makoto's forearm. A blush slowly crept up Makoto's neck up to his cheeks as Haru's hair fell into his face. Haru's lips carefully touched the skin by the cuts and he kissed the old scars on his milky skin. His lips were warm and even the slightest touch on his arm sent Makotos body ablaze. He kissed all the way up to Makotos shoulder and lingered for a second. He hesitated looking up at Makotos own lips and pondered. He snapped out of his thoughts quickly before he pulled back to look at Makoto, who was red as ever.

"Haru" Makoto said breathlessly, barely above a whisper.
And with that, Haru smiled and left the room, leaving Makoto to his confusion.
