Makoto and Haru cautiously got out of the ride and avoided eye contact at all cost. Makoto scratched the back of his neck and Haru pretended to pick lint off of his clothes.
They continued to walk back into the crowd of people rushing around to be the first to get into the lines.
The sun was beaming down on them and Makoto could feel sweat prickling on his forehead. He looked over at Haru for the first time since they got off the ride. Haru has all of his regular clothes back on over his suit. His clothes were damp and his shirt clung to his torso. His hair was wet and strings of hair stuck to his forehead and neck. Makoto could see some sweat dripping down the side of his face slowly, leaving a faint dark streak on his cheek before it was absorbed into his bronzed skin that the sun has toasted.
Haru looked to Makoto and was slightly bashful when he saw that Makoto was already staring at him.
"What?" Haru asked bluntly. Makoto seemed to snap out of his daydream and replied "oh, nothing, sorry."
The silence between the two had resumed until Haru quickly inhaled and turned to repeatedly smack Makotos arm.
"I got it!" Haru exclaimed.
"Got what?" Makoto cocked his head to the side.
"I figured out what you have to buy me." Makoto raised his brows and urged him to continue. "You're going to buy me a bunch of mackerel based dishes!"
Makoto sighed and chuckled quietly. "Only Haru would think of that." He though to himself.
"Okay." Makoto responded with a smile.

As they walked around more Haru spotted the first restaurant he wanted to stop at. He scanned over the seafood section of the menu. Makoto laughed as Haru came back over by him after giving Makotos money to the cashier, holding a kabob of mackerel.
Makoto and Haru continued to search for more mackerel treats for Haru. As they were walking Haru eyed Makotos face. He was looking around for more restaurants until Haru pulled on his arm.
"Do you wanna bite?" Haru asked as he looked up to his friend.
Makotos face flushed slightly. "Yeah sure." He tried his best to sound nonchalant but failed miserably after he stumbled over his words.
As Makoto was about to grab the kabob out of Haru's hand, Haru quickly smacked Makotos hand away. Makoto started at him quizzically.
"I'm gonna hold it." He explained shyly.
He held up the kabob to Makotos mouth. Makoto started to feel warmer and he felt butterflies in his stomach as he leaned down and took a bite of mackerel off of the stick.
The mackerel was crispy and tangy with saltiness from the flesh of the fish.
"Wow that's good, thank you Haru."
Haru nodded his head as they continued to walk some more. After a few more minutes Haru stopped Makoto and pointed to a seafood restaurant. Haru ordered mackerel with lime. The food came back in a cardboard container, that looked like it should be used for French fries.
They continued on for a few more hours until Haru was finally full. Makoto was almost out of money.
"Hey, I'll be right back" Haru said. He walked away before Makoto could could reply.
"Haru is an odd one" Makoto thought. A few minutes later Haru came back and was holding something behind his back.
"Here" Haru pulled the cotton candy he was hiding behind him out and gave it to Makoto. "Thank you for today, I had a good time."
Makoto was genuinely surprised to see Haru, his so called "cold hearted" best friend, actually go out of his way to buy something specifically for him.
"Oh, thank you Haru. You didn't need to do that." Makoto rambled. "You know you didn't need to spend money on me I'm perfectly fine. You don't have to go out of your way to..."
"Makoto, stop talking and worrying so much. I bought this because you are my best friend." Haru explained.
By the time Makoto finished his cotton candy and after they walked around a bit more, it was dark and they started to head back home.
They picked up Ren and Ran from their friends house and drove home. While they were in the car Ran spoke up. "So, did you guys have fun on your date" she teased.
"Ran!" Makoto sputtered. "I-it wasn't a date..."
"Mhm sure it wasn't. You two planned and went somewhere fun by yourselves for the day. That's a date." She giggled.
Makoto and Haru made awkward eye contact and they drove the rest of the way home in silence.
"It was kinda like a date" Haru thought to himself as he looked out the car window.
