"No ones gonna worry, or notice when when I'm gone."

               -The Mystic, Adam Jensen

Even though James kept falling in and out of consciousness I knew he'd be okay. He'd be back to his normal cheerful self in no time.

Me on the other hand. I was not okay. Someone tried to murder me and I watched my twin almost die in front of me. Steve left and I doubt he's even coming back, people have a history of breaking their promises to us. Nothing about this was okay.

The only smooth wave in this hail storm was Peter. He stayed through the night and even the next day, he simply refused to leave.

It's not like I was annoyed with him, his presence this past day had been extremely calming. He continued to reassure me that everything would be fine, and part of me choose to believe him.

I'm just surprised that he sat on the floor with me, I know how uncomfortable it is. Why didn't he just sit in a chair?

"So... you're Spider-Man?" I asked, trying to break the awkward silence.

"Uh, yea- I am." He stuttered scratching the back of his neck.

"So you knew my mom?" I asked more cautiously.

"I guess, we had a few uh- encounters." He said, probably thinking back to it.

"What was she like?"

Peter just shrugged. "Uhhhh..." Peter said, unable to find the right words to describe her. "Scary.."

I giggled and rolled my eyes. "Besides that, did you fight her? Who won?"

"Phhuah- I did- I mean yea, I'm Spider-Man." Peter said completely unconvincingly.

"You need to practice lying," James chuckled with his eyes half closed.

"James!" I gasped, practically jumping on top of him for a hug.

After a moment I let go, and James looked down to his bandaged stomach.

"Thanks for not letting me die." James laughed sarcastically.

"Thanks for coming." Steve called out as he made his presence known to Tony.

"Anytime." Tony said trying to release the tension between the two.

"It's good to see you, Tony." Steve sighed. He looked away then slowly looked back. They hadn't even spoke to each other in over three years.

"How bad?" Tony asked him carefully.

"Bad." Steve whispered. "Whatever they're planning with the stone.... it's gonna be a lot worse than New York."

"What if she's working for Loki? He could be controlling her?" Tony suggested.

"I don't think so, Loki doesn't have the scepter anymore, the stone was in Vision and now she has it." Steve said.

"So who's she taking orders from, this can't have been just her." Tony pressed.

"I don't know. Whatever is going on, she's been gone for two and a half years with this psycho she calls her brother... There's no fixing her... not this time." Steve sighed, running his hand through his dark hair.

"Didn't think you'd give up on her, ever, let alone this quick." Tony said, beyond confused. He didn't like Alex much, but he never would've imagined Steve would give up on her.

"Do you think I'm wrong?" Steve asked him.

"I don't know." Tony just shook his head.

There was silence between the two, Steve definitely had something else going through his head. Tony didn't know what to think at this point. If Steve of all people thinks she's gone, then is she? The girl Tony hated and loved at the same time. He didn't want to believe that she was actually gone.

"So, if she is too far gone, what are we gonna do about it?" Tony questioned.

"We're gonna need backup." Steve nodded.

"We're gonna need a hell of a lot more than that." Tony scoffed.

"What about an army?" Steve suggested.

Tony raised his eyebrows in surprise, it seemed easy enough to find.

"T'Challa's people will fight with us."

"Great, that'll stop the aliens. Not Alex, she's too powerful." Tony shook his head.

"I know, I have something else in mind for her." Steve said grabbing Alex's staff from the ground.

"Please don't tell me you mean-" Tony grumbled.

"You have a better idea?" Steve demanded.

Tony said nothing and Steve secured the staff to his back strap.

"Didn't think so." He muttered.

They'd done it. They had the stone. Alex and Dimitri knew what this meant for them. When they had returned, they bowed once again. After a moment, Thanos looked down to Alex, ignoring her brother.

"Have you brought it?" He demanded.

Alex looked up with a sick smile and beaming eyes. "Yes, father."

She stood up, and retrieved the stone from it's pouch around her waist. She used her powers to let it hover over her hand, then she walked up the steps to her father.

He grinned proudly down at her. His faith in her hadn't backfired. She was ready.

Alex let the stone float towards her father, then he simply plucked it between his thumb and index finger. The stones power radiated and shined in his eyes, then he placed the stone into the setting of his gauntlet.

He flexed his fingers, feeling the power become his. It was simply magnificent.

Once Thanos was done admiring the stone, he looked over to Corvus. "Mark her."

Alex turned to Corvus who clearly wasn't happy about this, but obeyed his orders nonetheless. He extended his hand, and Alex placed her hand in his.

"Do you swear to abide by the code's of The Black Order, and uphold them as your own, in life... and in death?" Corvus asked, his cold bones gripping her hand tightly.

Alex smirked and glared back at him. "I swear it."

Corvus raised his glaive above her, pressing the tip to the back of her hand. He made two small cuts, forming an X shape. Blood dripped from the wound, but it was dark, almost completely black.

She felt the darkness pumping through her veins. She felt the connection between her and the others now. She felt everything and nothing at the same time.

This was just the beginning.
