Sixteen Blinks

Sixteen blinks of an eye

In a wink, time did fly

It was only yesterday

When the golden circle of hope

Looped around a lonely heart

A planet of sunbeam sans a chart

Laced with honey and warmth

A miniscule cosmos for two

Only just made their way

Into the sweeping universe

It was only yesterday

When the blue twilights

Seemed to never end

And the daylight saving

Could hardly be saved

And someday, they were

As the sun rose again

And took away the pain

It was only yesterday

When an angel came along

Swathed in white feather

And a halo of silken promise

To be the joy bringer

With a touch of its finger

It was only yesterday

The beginning of a saga

An epoch-making declaration

Pages read in nanoseconds

Making a history of truth

Regeneration of an oath

Sixteen blinks ago

In a wink of awe

Every heartbeat

Every breath

Every beam

Anew.
