Best Friend
On a fateful day, years ago,
We met as two lost souls.
All that time has managed to show,
Is that friendship needn't share similar goals.
And as I look back upon the days gone by,
I'm overwhelmed by gratitude,
For the role you've played in my life,
For your strength and fortitude.
We've had our share of petty fights,
And a fair number of all out wars,
But through it all, we never lost sight,
Of who and what we truly are.
Whatever trials we face in the future,
Together we will endure,
Because, at the root of this bond we share,
Is a friendship strong and pure.
All this time we've spent together,
All the love and laughter,
Will stay with us forever,
A beautiful tale of a happy ever after!
