I wake up, shower, and dress in an oversized plaid shirt with the buttons undone, a black tee underneath that, black leggings, and my favourite slipper socks. I wing my eyeliner, and sigh as I apply the last of my mascara.

Today is the day Im telling them about Jake.

I inhale nervously as I creep downstairs, poking my head round the door to see if my parents are around. Scared , I rub my eyes as I sit down on the sofa opposite them.

"Morning."

"Good morning," I look up, smile for a second, then return my gaze to the floor again.

"Are you alright?"

"I need to tell you something." I can't make eye contact with them.

"Well.." My mother reassures me a little. "Go on then."

"Right," I smile. "Whilst you were in France, I met a boy."

"Who?"

"Well, you'll know who he is." I sigh.

My dad smiles. "As long as you're happy, we're happy."

"Okay," I breathe, relieved. "It's Jake Bugg."

Confused my gaze darts towards both my parents, who are laughing.

"What's so funny?" I ask, laughing a little myself.

"Kate," my mother composes herself. "It's been all over the news. We knew ages ago."

"Oh," I smile. "You could've told me!"

"We wanted to see how you'd react," my dad chuckles.

"So, when can we meet him?" My mum asks eagerly.

"Well, I'm not too sure." I smile a little at the thought of Jake. "I can't get to Nottingham, and he doesn't know when he can get here."

"We're always happy to have him." My mother smiles. I grin back, relieved.

"Would you mind if I called him now? It's just he wanted to know how things went."

"Not at all," my father smiles.

"Okay," I smile, getting up already. "I won't be long."

"You'll never guess what just happened." I say as soon as Jake answers the phone.

"What?" He asks.

"My parents knew about us!" I laugh. "They'd seen it on the news."

"Oh god," Jake chuckles. "Really?"

"Yep,"

"So they're fine with it?"

"Yeah," I smile. "They said you can stay here anytime."

"About that," Jake smiles excitedly. "I might be able to come down sometime this week."

"Seriously?" I nearly shout, butterflies gathering in my stomach. "That's great!"

"It's not for definite, but" he rushes. "I'll try my best, seeing you means a lot to me."

"Aw, Jake." I sigh.

"I just miss you, you know?"

"Yeah," I smile, tears forming in my eyes. "We'll see each other someday."

"I'm going to try as hard as I can."

"Okay," I smile at his determination. "I look forward to it."

"Me too, Katie." He chuckles. "Me too."
