chapter 10. is that really you?

"chill babe your dad did say there were a few faults in the house when we came up"jay says wrapping her arms round me kissing my neck softly. "you find a plumber yet?"

"yeah my dad kept all the numbers in this book. joiner...roofing...plumber" goodwin plumbing...hmm the name sound fimilar. i dial the number put the phone to my ear.

"hello goodwin plumbing im tim how may i assist you today?" a young mans voice sound through the phone

"hey um a pipe in my kitchen burst and water was going everwhere but iv turn the water off"i tell him.

"uh no problem. uh all our workers are out now but we will get someone out as soon as possible whats your adress?"tim asks

"14 oakly terrace"i tell him.

"okay someone-"he starts a voice in the back round stops him "is that mr.bradleys residance?" tim asks

"uh yes it is"i tell him confused.

"someone is on there way right now they will be there in about 5 minutes"he answers swiftly.

"okay and do you know how much it will be?"

"for mr.bradley its free. you must be his new carer. well tell him everybody here says hi"

"uh...i will do that...why does he get it free?"i ask still confused.

"ahh he's very good friends with the owners and there daughter. now have a good day miss"he says before hanging up.

"what was all that about?" jay ask sitting down

"uh dad gets all his plumbing for free cause he knows the owner apparently...he never used to."

"hmm well we need to thank him when we visit him"jay tells me as someone knocks at the door. "i'll get it"

as jay walks away i put everything back in its place. it was weird being back home. i was so used to living with jay in england but now that dads in the nursing home someone has to look after the house. i walked through to the kitchen i stood at the door as jay had a conversation with the plumber.

"so your the plumbers daughter...so why does mr.bradley get things for free?"jay asks

"uh i used to know him when i was in high school when him and his daughter left it was kind of a bad last meeting but when he came back last year he called me out to fix a pipe upstairs and we kind of sorted things out and i used to come by and help him out with things like cutting his grass and fixing his car just things that he found hard to do ya'know"the plumber answered when he said he knew me from high school i got curious.

"oh so you knew his daughter? how?"jay asked before me.

"uh kind of a long story not really one i like to talk about...all done"he answered pushing himself up from the floor looking at jay not noticing me my breath caught in my throat. the hair the muscles the face. every feature was breath takingly the same.

"colt?"i choked out she looked up at me surprised. her face looking confused for a second until she finally reconised me. and her face drained her smile fading.

"alex?...is that really you?"she asked me

"whoa wait your colt? as in thee colt black? i thought your last name was goodwin?"jay interupted. colt reluctently looked away from me to jay.

"uh yeah...my name is goodwin now but it used to be black...um excuse me but i have to go now"colt says slowly before picking up her tool box and pushing past me practically running out the house.

"what the hell just happened?"jay asks point towards the way colt left.

"i have no idea"i answer shaking my head.

*Colt's p.o.v*

she was back. after five years she finally decided to come home. but she had a girlfriend now. she had moved on. but i hadnt. i pulled into the drive way jumping out the van. i pull out my phone.

it was weird that after all these years and me pratically using jenna for 7 months we stayed friends...with benefits. but mostly just friends. i stepped into the house kicking my boots off at the door.

"colt hon is that you?"my mother shouts after about two years helena became a mother to me so it felt right that called her that.

"yeah"i say walking through to the dining room where my mum and dad were eatting. and a plate of food was there for me "can i ask you guys a question"i say leaning against the door.

"ofcourse"mum answers smiling at me.

"did george bradley say anything to you about alex coming back?"

"colt honey we already told you...she's not coming back. im sure he would have told you is she was"mum answered.

"thats funny since i was just speaking to her and her...girlfriend"i spat the word girlfriend out.

"really? well it has been a while since your spoke to him or maybe he just forgot to tell you"dad answered putting a forkful of beef in his mouth.

"hmmm. maybe. uh jenna's coming over soon by the way."i tell them finally sitting down eatting my food.

"thats nice are you two going out?"helena asked

"no i think we are just going to stay in for a while then im of night shift at the garage so i'll be back about 6 in the morning so you might not see me much tomorrow"i tell them shoveling my food down my throat.

"really colt you work to much. you dont have to be a plumber and you dont have to work at the garage since most bosses like your father just sit and do nothing but make money"mum puts a snide comment about dad.

"ha. no i like working it keeps me busy and stops me for thinking to much."i answer as the door slams shut.

"hey guys aunt helen"jenna smiles sweetly walking into the dinin room.

"hello jen would you like something to eat?"mum asks

"no she's fat enough without eatting my food too i'll speak to you later"i say standing up grabbing jens hand leading her up to my room.

"so s'up? thought you were working tonight?" jenna says throwing herself back on my bed.

"iam...she's back jen"i whisper but she heard me.

"who alex? are you sure?"jen asks sitting up looking at me.

"yeah iam...she has a girlfriend she's living back at her old house and everything"i answer

"well shit...what are you going to do? i mean you've been waiting five years for this colt"

"yeah but i didnt think she would have a fucking girlfriend jen!"

"so your just going to walk away?"

"i dont know i really dont...when i saw her today... i was so happy but so sad. and i just ran away."

"never took you as the kind to run away...you need to go back colt. you need to fix things."

"but i dont know how. i mean what happens if she just laughs in my face or something what will people say then huh?"

"colt its not fucking high school you 22 now get the fuck over youself and fix things i put up with you five years ago crying fighting drinking over how much you loved her and all that crap im not going to let you run away now" jennna said firmly. i knew she wasnt going to let me back out. not now and thats why she was my bestfriend. i had to do this i had to face alex. all over again and put things right and maybe...i might get her back...

SO five years later alex returned has a girlfriend and colt has a business and a still friends with jenna and alexs dad. totally random.

kind of a rubbish chapter i think...
