It was a calm, quiet night at the Lyston house.

It was late in the night and Isabel couldn't sleep.

She was so glad to be home with her family, but she longed to be with her friends at Hogwarts, learning magic and getting into trouble.

She looked up at the beautiful stars and the moon.

Everything was so peaceful.

Yet, she couldn't help but feel like something was off.

There was a low sound of her door creaking open.

She whipped her head around to see little Oliver.

She let out a sigh of relief.

"Hey, buddy, what's wrong?" Isabel asked quietly, walking up to Oliver.

She picked him up and sat on her bed with him.

"I couldn't go to sleep and have dreams because I thought a scary man was watching me," Oliver said in a small voice, fiddling with the tag on her white bed covers.

"Little man, look at me, we are safe, it's just your imagination playing tricks on you," Isabel tried to calm her baby brother. But she wasn't sure herself. She was very scared herself.

They sat in silence and heard footsteps coming towards her door.

Isabel's throat became restricted as she held onto her brother tighter.

In came Isabel's parents.

Isabel turned on her bedside lamp and saw their faces.

Her father's face was full of fear and confusion.

Her mom was crying.

"W-what's going on? M-mom w-what's wrong," Isabel asked.

"He's here." Her mom muttered.

Isabel didn't need an explanation.

Voldemort.

Isabel's body began to shake out of fear.

Why here? Why now? Why her family?

Her father locked the door and put books, chairs, even shelves to barricade themselves in.

Her mom stood by her dad's side, her wand ready.

Isabel got out her wand too.

"Ollie, listen to me carefully," Isabel said, looking into her baby brother's frightened hazel eyes, "There is a bad guy in our house, he might try to hurt us, no matter what, stay with me."

Isabel started to cry. Oliver wiped away her tears with his small thumb.

Isabel held him closer.

"N-no matter w-what happens tonight," Isabel's mom said, her voice quivering with each frightening word, "K-know we love you s-so much. Be brave."

It seemed to all happen in slow motion for Isabel.

The door and everything holding it closed, exploded into small pieces with a flash of red light.

Two hooded figure walked into the room.

They laughed.

Laughed.

"AVADA KEDAVRA!" One yelled revealing the face of Lord Voldemort.

Isabel's father's body tumbled to the group.

The life, instantly leaving his eyes.

Her protector, the first man she ever loved.

Her father couldn't even defend himself, just a muggle.
