"Ugh! Why do snowstorms exist!" you groan into the phone, "This is going to be my first Christmas without you since we got together." Your voice drops and you hear him sigh through the phone.

"I’m sorry, babe," your boyfriend Ross says, his voice quiet, "I wish I could do something but I can’t change the weather."

"I know, it’s not your fault," you say apologetically, "it just won’t be the same." You exhaustively lay back on your bed and let out a deep breath.

"I know it won’t," he says, his voice becoming sadder with each word, "and the fact that I won’t see you until April is what kills me the most." Your frown becomes bigger now that you are thinking about that as well.

"Wow, glad you reminded me of that," you say sarcastically.

"Sorry," Ross says, you can almost sense his shrug and innocent smile over the phone, "I gotta go for now, but I’ll talk to you later, love."

"Okay, love and miss you," you say sadly.

"Love and miss you more," he says and then you both hang up.

You hear a knock on your door and then hear it open. Geez, what’s the point of knocking if you are just going to open it anyway.

"What’s wrong, honey?" your mom asks, concerned.

"There is a big snowstorm in Colorado so Ross’ flight is cancelled and he won’t be able to get here by Christmas," you say with a sigh.

"Oh," she says, sitting down on your bed next to you, "I’m sorry, hun," she says rubbing your back comfortingly. You roll over to look at her.

"It’s okay," you reply, "I will get over it soon enough."

"Well I hate to say this since you are so upset," she starts, "but we promised your cousins that we would go ice skating with them this afternoon."

"Ugh, I forgot about that," you say pulling a pillow over your face and nearly screaming into it. It’s nothing against your cousins or anything, you love them to death, it’s just that they can be annoying at times. And annoying cousins plus a grumpy attitude is not a good combination.

"Y/N, be nice," she says giving you the ‘mom’ look. You move the pillow from your face and look at her with an ‘are you kidding me’ face. After a few moments you sigh in defeat.

"Fine," you groan, "I’ll be ready in a few minutes."

Your mom smiles at you and gets up to leave. “That’s my girl,” she says before leaving and closing your door behind her.

——-Time skips———I really shouldn’t do this so much———

You arrive at the ice rink and look around for your cousins, who are nowhere to be seen. Well, if you are going to have to do this you may as well make the best of it so you start skating.

You start smoothly gliding on the ice, going as fast as you can without knocking over any small children. As you are skating around the rink your eyes drift to the outside of the rink.

You decide it’s about time to take a break, considering you weren’t exactly in the mood to skate right now you were on the ice for a good bit of time.

You sit down on a bench and take your skates off. You see you have a missed phone call from Ross. You immediately call back and he answers.

"Hello, beautiful," he says, causing you to blush. Only Ross would be able to make you blush over the phone.

"Hey," you reply with a smile, "sorry I was ice skating when you called."

"I know you were," he says matter of factly. You tilt your head in confusion and before you can ask how he knows that he adds, "oh and that blush was really cute by the way."

"Wait what?" you ask, getting more confused each minute.

"Look to your right," he says and you do what he says. Low and behold, there stands Ross in his leather jacket and a red scarf. You drop the phone and immediately run over to him.

You run into his open arms and crash your lips onto his. He puts his hands on your waist and you can feel him smiling into the kiss. After a few moments you pull away and Ross looks flabbergasted.

“Sorry,” you apologize with a shy smile, “I got a bit excited.”

"Oh no, I did not mind that at all," he says with a smirk, "in fact I think I should surprise you more often now that I know what the result will be."

You stop for a moment and think. Suddenly you realize something. “You idiot, you told me there was a snowstorm,” you say, playfully slapping his arm.

"Oops, I lied," he replies with a shrug.

"Yeah, oops," you say mocking him. He pulls you close to him and you snuggle your head into his chest.

"Oh you know you love me," he says in his fake conceded tone.

"That I do, Shor," you say looking up at him, "That I do."
