"Hello, I assume you are Mr.Mendes? The new student?" Principal George asks.
"Er, yes, that's me," Shawn replies.
"And you are?" Principal George turns to me.
"Um...I'm...Emma Smith," I reply, nervously.
WHY AM I SO NERVOUS?
"What are you doing here, Miss Smith?" he asks.
I am freaking out about sitting next to Shawn Mendes.
HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO ANSWER THAT QUESTION?
"We got a bit lost on the way, but Emma really helped us know the way. But there was way too much traffic, so we got stuck on the road," Shawn replies, saving me.
I'm crying on the inside.
SHAWN MENDES JUST DEFENDED ME.
I should chill.
"Oh, why thank you, Miss Smith. That was very kind of you," Principal George says with a smile. I smile back. "I wonder if you would mind skipping the first two periods and show Mr. Mendes around the school?"
"Er..." I am low-key shocked. "No I wouldn't mind ."
"Great," the principal says with a little grin.
MY HEART IS BEATING SO FAST I'M SURPRISED THEY CAN'T HEAR IT.
"Here is your schedule and other information you need, Mr. Mendes." He hands Shawn a folder.
"Thank you, Principal George."
We walk out of the Principal's office.
