Chapter 39

Justin's POV

"So, how's your day today, Princess?", I asked her with a prideful smirk on the corner of my lips while having both of my hands on the steering and focusing on the road.

She shrugged and replied in monotone "Well, I'm fine. I guess I still need more time to adapt the turning point of my life but I am really excited about it to be honest.".

I raised an eyebrow and reassured with her confusedly "Excited? How? So, that means everything is going perfectly well for you so far?".

She shrugged playfully and said "Maybe I guess.".

I held a smile and reassured with her again "You told me that you already make a new friend today and you both are having lunch together. To be honest, I am a little surprise tho. I thought you are terrible in socializing and communicating.".

She bit her lips in hesitation for a few seconds but still decided to spill it for me "Well, Justin, I am not going to hide this from you, actually the friend I told you at noon is Thomas.".

I pretended to act surprise and shock, I faked reassured with her even though I had already expected this "Thomas? You mean that Thomas?".

She started speeding up her words to defend herself and to calm me down     "I hope you don't misunderstand me, I literally have no idea that he's working there as well. We met just because of coincidence. I...".

I chuckled lightly and calmed her down "Hey, take it easy. Who says I am angry now? Don't worry, I trust you.".

She furrowed her eyebrows and looked at me suspiciously, she questioned me by speaking her doubt "Justin, you don't look so surprise tho...".

I remained silent for a few seconds and there's a few seconds of silence between us.

I was looking straight and focusing on the road but I could feel her stare beside me.

I broke the awkward silence by saying to her "Well, honestly, I don't think it's a bad idea. Thomas can look after you over there, so that means I don't have to worry about you this much. He can take good care of you obviously.".

She rolled her eyes and scoffed at me "Haha... Nice joke, Bieber. Don't you afraid that one day Thomas will win my heart away from you?".

I shrugged and chuckled "Well, I don't care. That's none of my business, you are still going to divorce with me anyway after getting that amount of money.".

However, from her perspective, I was not chuckling. She remained silent instantly without showing any response to my statement.

She frowned but she pretended not to.

I tried to recover the atmosphere from turning into an awkwardness, I locked my eyes contact with her and said with a confident look "Well, actually that's because I trust you. I believe in you.".

The corner of her lips curved up a little and formed a tiny beautiful smile, but she didn't plan to hide it this time.

She bit her lips in dilemma and questioned me by trying to look away from my eyes "Justin, to be honest, why are you allowing me to look for a new job and start earning money in order to break the contract?".

I took a deep breath and took a long pause, I replied in a monotone without having courage to look into her eyes as well "That's because I love you.".
