Game 48 -To heal without each other

He nodded thoughtfully. “With Shiloh?”

“Yeah.”

 

He swallowed hard because the next question he was going to ask would definitely be a dagger in his heart. But he needed to know. He’d be damned if he didn’t. “Nagkabalikan na ba sila?”

Nakita niya ang pagkagulat ng dalawa sa tanong niya, ramdam din niya na hindi ito mga gustong sagutin ang tanong niya. Si Ron ay ininom ang brandy para lang hindi makasagot.

Kaya si Charlene ang sumagot. “We don’t really know Kuya. Hindi naman sila forthcoming sa relationship nila.”

 

“But they’re living together right and they will be living together once they come back home.” He stated.

“Well of course they’re living together, Ate Emma is legally Shiloh’s mom.” Charlene blurted out.

“Ah. So she did adopt Shiloh.” He muttered.

“You must know Caleb, dati pa planong ampunin ni Emma si Shiloh. High school palang kami ay ayun na ang plano.” Ron said suddenly.

“Alam ko. Pero ang tanong may nagbago ba sa plano nila? You told me before, they were planning to get married right when they turn 18 and Emma’s going to adopt Shiloh once she finished med school and be proved stable. Ayun parin ba ang plano nila? Ang bumuo ng isang pamilya para kay Shiloh?”

“I don’t know Caleb. Many things changed Caleb. Nagbago ang mga priorities nilang dalawa. Fourteen years ng nakalipas and they were apart.”

“But they’re together now. Nagbago nga ang mga priorities nila pero hindi si Shiloh. Isang constant si Shiloh. I just want to know if they’re planning to get married or are they already?”

“Alam ko mahal mo si Emma, Caleb pero nasaktan mo si Emma at alam natin na isa ka sa mga dahilan kung bakit siya umalis.” Ron started. Alam din naman iyon ni Caleb, isa siya sa mga dahilan. Alam niya iyon. Dalawang taon niyang dinala yung guilt na iyon.

Maraming what ifs ang pumasok sa isipan niya. What if Emma hadn’t walked into his office that fateful day? Or what if he didn’t kiss Regina back? But the worse was what if he didn’t let her leave that night. If he fought for her to stay and talk rather than walk out on him.

Alam niya na kailangan umalis ni Emma noon, security purposes. For her safety but damn it he could have protected her, if he wasn't so drunk. Damn it because she had walked out on him and walked right into danger.

They were right to fear for her safety that night, assassins had tried to kill her and Anya. They were successful enough, with those gunfires and the car crash. It was a relief to some when Anya wasn’t in the car with Emma.

Nauna na ito sa eroplano. Wala naman nakakaalam na kasama nito si Anton Magdayao nang gabing iyon at ito ang magdadala kay Anya sa airport.
