"You!" she says. Her face lights up.
"You're that guy. Always sitting across from me in the library when it rains."
"I'm surprised you remember."
A small giggle. "Why wouldn't I?"
"Most people wouldn't. I'm told I have a forgettable face."
"Guess I'm not most people then, hm?"
Her grin is infectious.
"You know, I've been dying to talk to you," she says.
"Really?"
"Is it that surprising?"
"Well..."
"It's just that your book covers always seem so interesting."
"That's the first I've ever heard that."
"It's true! I tried sneaking peeks at the titles
when you weren't looking."
"Why not just ask me?"
"...wow. I never thought of that."
I smile and shake my head.
"What if I was always curious about your books too?
They always seemed cool... or is strange the right word?'
"Eh? What was that?"
"N-nothing."
"Aha. It must have been the wind then," she says in a scary tone.
"Thank you for your leniency, Akiyama-sama."
We laugh together.
We'd fallen behind the other two,
but I didn't notice at all.
The sunset is a deep red, like fire in the horizon.
And we are walking together,
rain girl
and
library boy.
