⌠ 1 ⌡

I remember her face twisting,

something I've never seen.

A look of hatred,

resentment,

disgust.

Her thin lips,

curled in a frown,

her cheerful eyes,

narrowed in a glare.

I heard myself echoing.

"Sorry. I'm sorry."

She didn't say anything.

I wanted to say something,

but couldn't.

She crossed her arms,

like she was hugging herself.

Scared.

I'm a terrible person.

"...how could you two do something like that?"

⌠ 2 ⌡

I don't want to see you again.

She left the cafe

without looking back.

She left,

without hearing the reason

why I told her,

about everything.

Even though I knew it would make

her

hate me.

She left,

my voice

echoing

unspoken

words.

"Because I like you."
