"Run with me."

The butterflies in my stomach went wild when Mingyu whispered to me, I didn't even know I had them. We both ran out of the door with him dragging me. I didn't know what came to me that I agreed to run with him, but I'm glad I did.

The people passing by are all looking at us, maybe thinking we're crazy teenagers, we both don't care because it was hella fun. When we knew we're far enough, we stopped running and sat on the sidewalk catching our breaths.

"Why did you run?" I asked him between my breaths.

"I don't know. Instincts I guess?" He shrugged.

"Thank you instincts." I laughed at him.

"Why are you laughing?" He said looking at me.

"I don't know. Instincts I guess?" I copied him earning a laugh from him.

He stood up and offered his hands to help me. I took it and we decided to walk home.

We've been walking for a couple of minutes now and everything around us is still unfamiliar. I had a bad feeling that we might be lost somehow. Mingyu must have sensed that I'm starting to feel nervous so he intertwined his hands with mine.

Instead of yanking my hands off of him like what I would normally do, I didn't. I decided to trust him this time, hoping that we soon found our way home.

"Eunha, can I ask you something?" He asked when the only thing we can hear was the distant city noise.

"Hmm" I nodded.

"Why.. Why do you keep on avoiding me?" I can feel that he's looking at me.

I stopped on my tracks and let go of his hands, taken a back of what he just said. I totally forgot that he might asked me this anytime soon and he caught me unguarded. He looked back at me full of worry.

"Are you okay?" He walked towards me until our bodies are only inches away from each other. When I didn't respond to his question, he added, "You don't have to answer it right away. Let's go home first, it's getting dark."

"I.." I looked at him in the eyes.

"The truth?" I asked him and he nodded. "You confuse me. Everything you did for me this last few weeks is not how you used to treat me. I know that you've been awfully good towards me but I don't know how to react to this new side of you. All I know is that we're used to be enemies but now-" His tight hug caused me to stopped talking.

"Now we're friends." He whispered to me.

My lips curved into a smile and I hug him back.

Soon, we're already in front of my house. I really appreciated what he said a while ago so I invited him to dinner before he said goodbye to me.

"What happened to you? Look at your clothes!" She gestured her hands towards us from head to toe as soon as my mom saw me open the front door.

"We had fun playing with the dogs. Sorry mom." I smiled to myself.

"Wash up before we have our dinner okay?" My mom went back to the kitchen to start preparing the table.

"Yes mooooom, and oh, I invited Mingyu for dinner." Then I ran to my room. I know that my mom will tease me if I stay downstairs.

I took a warm bath and recall everything that happened today as I dress myself. I can't help but smile at the thought of Mingyu and I are now friends. I guess I should thank Yerin  for inviting Mingyu to the dog shelter.

I heard the door bell rung and I quickly went downstairs to answer it. Mingyu greeted me with his tight smile, I let him in and guide him to the dining room.

"Annyeonghaseyo." He greeted my mom.

"Aigoo. You look handsome as always." My mom pinched his cheeks and I giggled at the sight.

"This is for you Mrs. Jung." Mingyu handed my mom a fresh bouquet of daisies.

"I'm impressed." She took the flowers and placed in a vase.

The dinner is good so far. I suddenly miss Jungkook. He used to have dinner at our house every Friday night and my mom would prepare so much food because she knows that Jungkook inhales food the moment he sees it, sometimes I get jealous that he doesn't get fat even though he eats way too much.

I'm glad Mingyu had dinner with us today because my dad isn't home for dinner again. He usually have his dinner inside his office or with his clients, it makes mom sad that my father isn't always home for dinner.

"Mrs. Jung, can I ask your permission to take Eunha to the grad ball?" Mingyu blurted out making me choke on my food.

I quickly gulped down a glass of water.

"Honey are you okay?" Mom asked me, holding her laugh, I just nodded and looked at Mingyu.

What's gotten into him? Why is he asking my mom's permission to take me? And how come I only found out that we have this grad ball thing now? Am I that outdated?

Mingyu cleared his throat as my mom turned her head to Mingyu who was sitting in front of me.

"I appreciate that you asked my permission to take Eunha, and I would love it if you take her but it still depends on her." She smiled at him genuinely, a smile I haven't seen in a while.
