“Alfie. Wake up,” I whispered, breathing onto the sleeping Alfie. He didn’t stir. Typical. I glanced at the clock. I didn’t know how long it took boys to get ready but I wanted him up and off of my bed before eight.

“Alfie!” I screamed in his ear. I hadn’t remember what a deep sleeper he was. I had underestimated his power too, so when his elbow came into contact with my eye, I was so stunned I fell onto my butt.

“Fuck!” I cupped my eye, get up and moving back. “That really hurt.”

“What happened?” Alfie asked, still slightly sleepy.

“I think I have a black eye,” I fretted, running into the bathroom. My eye was slightly blue. A black eye would set there in about an hour or so.

Alfie leaned on the bathroom door. “Sorry. You scared me,” he accused. “Why’d you wake me?”

“We leave in two hours, I figured you’d want to freshen up or something.”

“Aw, you’re so considerate.”

I gripped the tap, rolling my eyes as he stepped out of the bathroom.

I was right about the black eye. By the time I was ready, there was definitely a black eye there. I sighed and tried to ignore it as I stepped out of the bathroom.

“I should’ve bought some clothes,” Alfie laughed, looking at me. “I feel out of place.”

“You look fine,” I smiled, sliding some bracelets onto my arms.

“You look good too. Are you dressed all fancy to make Harry jealous?”

I laughed, shaking my head. “I wouldn’t dress up for him if I was paid to do so.”

I was wearing a white dress that was a little small, but I wanted to wear it at least once because I’d paid 20 quid for it. Obviously, black tights were a necessity. I was wearing a pair of black flats even though Alfie had tried to make me put heels on (“I’m sure Harry would appreciate it!”). I had, however, decided that I looked a bit too dressy, so mascara and concealer were the only makeup products I had on. Besides, I tried covering the black eye with concealer; it had failed.

“C’mon,” I said, grabbing a leather jacket. “Let’s go.”

“Do you know where to meet them?” He asked, grabbing his own jacket.

“Probably Harry’s dorm.”

“Lead the way then.”

We walked to Harry’s dorm in silence. Just as we reached his dorm, the door opened. Ella stepped out first, laughing at something Harry had probably said. My stomach twisted and I looked over at Harry. He was wearing a blue checked shirt that wasn’t actually buttoned up properly and a pair of black jeans. Typical. Ella, however, had changed into a black dress that made her boobs pop out. She was wearing stilettos and she was heavily done up, with her hair in curls. She still looked gorgeous. I felt as underdressed as Alfie was.

Harry didn’t look at me; he kept his eyes on Ella as he took her hand. I glanced at him, and it was for the first time today that I noticed he had a faint white scar on his cheek. Ella turned to Alfie, giving him a charming smile.

“Hi, Alfie. Hey there Breanna.”

“Brenna,” I muttered, falling into step behind them.

“Sorry,” she laughed, not really sounding sorry.

When we reached the restaurant, it was extremely awkward for me. Ella and Alfie were talking to each other animatedly, whilst me and Harry stayed quiet. We sat down, and I ended up sitting opposite of Harry. Great. We ordered our beverages and Ella finally turned to me.
