There were a lot of punches. I wasn’t fully aware of what was going on until I saw Nicholas bend over and cough blood. Harry kicked his leg, so Nicholas fell flat on his face. I gasped and looked at Harry, whose face was bruising. It was covered with cuts, as Nicholas had been scratching him. I looked him in the eyes, and he looked at me. He stopped and stared at me. Not a good move.

Nicholas grabbed onto Harry’s foot from his position on the ground and pulled his leg towards him, causing Harry to fall. Harry swore in surprise and caught Nicholas in a headlock, with the both of them punching each other. I couldn’t move – or even speak. It was a blur, everything was a blur. Nicholas came out of the headlock and punched Harry again and again. In the stomach, in the jaw, in the stomach again. He punched Harry’s eye and brought his hand down Harry’s face.

Almost straight away, a red line formed on Harry’s cheek. His eyes widened and the line opened slightly, and blood started pouring out of it. A cut. Harry didn’t let this phase him – he pushed Nicholas down and there was a kerfuffle. I willed myself to move, speak – anything! It wasn’t until I saw a flash of silver that I got my senses back.

Nicholas was holding a knife, and he was about to stab Harry with it. My senses were alerted and I stumbled towards them. “No! Put it down! Stop fighting!”

My voice was ringing in my ears as I pushed the blade out of Nicholas’s hand. It hit the wall with a soft tink and then it fell on the floor. I breathed out a sigh of relief, but Nicholas was quick on his feet. He got up and looked at Harry, who had his eyes closed. He was breathing, but he was probably in a lot of pain. It was understandable, because Nicholas was a strong man. Nicholas looked at me, and I saw his eyes glance at the knife.

“Don’t you dare!” I called, but it was too late. He started to run towards the knife, and I got up and stumbled over Harry, following him. I almost tripped on my undone shoe laces. Nicholas picked it up just as I reached him. I punched him, and he gasped in shock. So did I. Had I done that? I looked at him, he was clutching his nose in pain. He pushed me against the wall, towering over me as he held the knife towards my neck.

I breathed out slowly, my heart pounding. I’m gonna die. I’m gonna die. Im going to die. Don’t freak out, it’ll be okay. “Get that knife away from my throat,” I breathed.

Nicholas laughed, a cruel laugh that sent shivers down my throat. I glanced at Harry, who was trying to sit up on the floor.

“Don’t – don’t do anything,” Harry wheezed, the breath knocked out of him.

“I should slit your pretty little throat and watch you die,” Nicholas whispered in my ear, his hot breath making me uncomfortable. “Or better yet, I should fuck you right here, right in front of Harry. He can’t do anything about it, can he?”

I kept quiet. Nicholas was very similar to my dad. So if he was anything like my dad… He frowned and prodded me lightly. “Answer me.”

I kept quiet. He was. “I said answer me!”

He pushed the knife closer to my neck. If I moved, I’d get cut. I couldn’t get scared. “Answer me, or I’ll stab you again and again until you die.” His voice was so cold, I almost answered him.

Fear is determined on level of shock.

I knew what he was going to do. He raised the knife and just as he was about to stab me with it I grabbed his arm. This surprised him; he probably wasn’t used to girls fighting back. Fear is determined by level of shock. He was scared, so it was easy to take the knife from him and press him again the wall, pushing my knee against his crotch, a fair amount of pressure there. I pressed the knife to his throat and he swallowed, his adam’s apple bobbing up and down.

“H-Hey now. Let’s not do what’s not necessary.”

“I should slit your pretty little throat and watch you die,” I mocked, a smirk gracing my lips. He was scared, his eyes had widened. “But I’m not as mean as you are.”

He breathed out a sigh of relief, obviously thinking it was over. Idiot. I punched him in the nose, and then as he bent over I kneed him. He keeled over, wincing. I kicked him again.

“You’re sickening,” I spat, turning away from him.

It was then that I remember about Harry. I looked at him. He was staring at me, his cheek still bleeding, and his face bloody and bruised. His eyes were widened. I glanced at the knife I was still holding and swallowed, dropping it almost immediately.

“Why did you go to him?” Harry snapped, his hands gripping the wheel.

“I had to. I wanted to know who he was.”

“So you couldn’t have asked me?”

“I did! You didn’t answer!”

“You’re so nosy.”

“Thank you,” I breathed sarcastically, turning away from him.

“What did he tell you?”

“Stuff.”

“What did he tell you?” Harry repeated.

“He told me about him and you! You killed his brother, Harry!” I glanced at his hands. They had murdered someone.

Harry stiffened, parking the car. “What?”

“Yes,” I said morosely, getting out. "Don't try and deny it."

He got out after me, and caught my elbow. It had now started to sink it that Harry had killed someone. He was a murderer. I shook his hand off. “Don’t touch me.”

“Please, you and I both know very well that I didn't kill anyone. I swear. I put him in a coma.”

“It doesn’t matter! The point is,” I looked around, and lowered my voice. “You hurt someone!” I whisper-yelled.

“Look, just let me explain! Come to my dorm, and I’ll tell you everything.”

“No. I don’t want to be alone with you.”

“Fine, I’ll call Olly. He can stay with us whilst I explain. Besides, he’s been through this all with me.”

I forgot Olly was involved with this. I felt safer with Olly, so I nodded reluctantly. “Fine. I’ll give you five minutes.”
