Epilogue

My thoughts are angry as I drive through the night to my destination. I'm in control enough, though, to where I don't commit road rage.

Although, I don't put it past me at this point. I'm a demon, so, why not fuck up peoples' lives? Why not get them into an accident and have me walk out unscathed while they perish?

The songs that play through the radio, I don't sing along. They remind me of when Charlie had sat beside me not too long ago, singing off-key.

The coordinates lead me to an abandoned warehouse. Guess it's the kind of place he'd hide out in. I quirk my mouth into a suspicious line as I climb out of my truck, wincing from my wounds. Though they've started to heal already, they still sting a bit. Maybe he can use some of that knowledge from his meat suit's brain to help me heal even faster.

I have no weaponry on me, but I don't think that's much of an issue. My powers enough will keep me safe. Besides, if a human tries to jump me, I'll scare them shitless. It'll be the most fun I've had on this road trip since I left Kansas.

I make sure to lock my truck. I don't want any of my belongings to fall into the wrong hands early, but even then there's not much to take, except the truck itself, which I will most certainly kill people for if they try to steal it. It's been through things with me and it doesn't judge me. It seems like an object is the only thing that can trust me.

He told me to come here when I thought about it. I'm here, now where is he? I pace around my truck, looking for anything fishy. The scan comes back clean. Now I'm starting to feel the impatience.

But I can sense someone's nearby. Friend or enemy, I'm not sure yet. For now, I have to deem them an enemy.

"I was beginning to think you'd forgot."

I head to the bed of my truck, where Alex Franco is making his way towards. It's a disappointing sight to see him clothed, but he's a relieving sight. "For a while, I thought I did too."

"So, you reconsidered, then." He crosses his arms, making his jacket crinkle in certain places. I lick my lips, trying to resist thinking of all the nasty things I could do to him in time. Focus. You're here to be taken in, not to fuck him.

"You must feel so smug right now."

"What makes you say that?" He's trying so hard to not smirk.

"You were right." I shake my head. "I thought I could fit in and get back into the routine. The things I nearly did, what I've done, none of them understand me. Not even my brother, who was a demon for a short time. I'm the black sheep."

"I warned you," he reminds me. "And you didn't believe me. Now, you've shown up on my doorstep."

I look at him suspiciously. "You said you could help me find my way. Help me deal with my powers."

He smiles thinly. "I can help you with anything you need. All you have to do is listen to what I tell you. Let me help you before you drown."

I crinkle my nose. "Just so you know, I'm not looking to better myself for revenge. I'm just bettering myself for me only."

"Good to know. Kind of wish it was for revenge, though. I'd take so much more pride in helping you out with that. But hey, I'm not you." He starts to back away. "Come on, bring your stuff. I'll give you a tour. It'll be just like old times, Josette."

I wrinkle my nose. "Avery."

Franco stops, looking at me quizzically. "What?"

"Don't call me...Josette." I clear my throat. "That girl died when she got killed by the Scribe of God. She doesn't exist anymore. Avery does."

A warm smiles comes onto his face. "Avery. You always looked like an 'Avery' to me."

"Come on now, no sap. Demons don't have empathy, or gushy feelings." I stick my tongue out in disgust. "Not what they were created for."

Franco chuckles. "You're already learning. Hell, if you teach yourself, you might not even need me."

"Oh, I'll need you." I match Franco's stride as I walk beside him. "Because I want someone's ass to kick while I strengthen my powers."

"Aves, you and I are gonna have some fun."

"I wouldn't expect anything less."

**[cue shocked reactions from my readers]

Oh, yeah, that just happened. It's not a hallucination. It's 100% real. Jo has left the bunker and has found herself running back to Franco.

Surprised? Not really?

And how about that name change, huh?

P.S. If you guess what episode this song is from (season, episode number, and episode title), I'll dedicate a chapter to you :)**
