Jessica Hoke died ten days ago...she was 5 years older than me & I haven't seen her in more than 10, yet I still got depressed & almost cried while I was volunteering 3 days ago when her memorial service happened & I couldn't go. I wasn't close to her at all, I have to admit that. We never corresponded w/ each other & when our families used to hang out, we never really were that good of friends anyways. I was better friends w/ Issabella, her younger sister. But I did get my name from Jessica Lauren Hoke. And her & her sister make up good memories that I have from when I was little. And they're part of my "alternate life." If my rents hadn't chosen a certain path, I would have grown up with Jessica & Issabella. It's hard knowing she's gone.

[If anyone lives near Irvine in Cali, I'm sure you heard on the news about the 23 yr old who was waiting at the corner of a crosswalk and got hit in the head by a flying tire from a car crash that happened in that very intersection...that was my friend Jessica. Her picture is on the right.]
