"But she has to come" I complained into my phone as I jotted down notes in my Journalism class, "Eli—I—but how's that fair?"
"It's not, Vi, but that's my mom for you" Eliot sighed, "She doesn't want to leave to Hollywood"
I rolled my eyes, vigorously setting my pen down, "Well, tell your mother to get her head out of her ass, and celebrate her own daughter's birthday" I said in anger, hearing Eliot chuckle.
"Absolutely, will do" he told me.
I hung up the phone, exhaling in irritation whilst I continued to write down steps to designing a paper.
"I would've never thought to hear something like that from you" Ashton surprised me as he sat in the empty chair next to mine, "May I ask what that was about?"
I exhaled softly, continuing my notes whilst I prepared to explain, "My friends and I are throwing our friends a birthday party, but Jessa's mum isn't the most humble"
Ashton shuttered, "I've had one or two of those in my life" he told me, "They're not fun"
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that, it's just I've known her mom almost my entire life and—"
"Vi, you don't have to explain yourself to me" Ashton chuckled, "But listen, if you invite me to this party, I'll keep you from the wicked best friend's mom" he told me, making me smile at his warm offer.
"I was going to invite you anyway" I said to him, watching as the corners of his mouth quickly lifted in a smile. (gif)
"So—erm—how's the girlfriend?" I asked at an awkward time that I immediately regretted.
"Lydia? She's good" Ashton chuckled, leaning forward on the desktop, "I've been wanting to introduce you two"
I managed a smile behind my envy, "That would be nice" I mumbled out, going back to writing on my paper, and noticing his state of awe, "She's incredibly lucky to have you, Ash" I told him, giving him a small smile.
The entirety of my time had been involved in trying to make this party successful for Michael and Jessa, for the overall main reason that, since hearing it from Alicia and knowing Jessa all my life, they've never really had one.
My family was perfect, and their's—as much as they, and their family members attempted to hide it—were not, and I couldn't help but feel ashamed to the situation. I had made it my overall job of the week to open Jess and Mikey to a experience.
"Jessa's with Juliet at the Quad–" Alicia began when she walked into my room, "–and I'll take Michael out to buy Jessa's gift, then I'll take Jessa to buy Michael's gift" she continued, confusing both herself and I.
"Okay, thank you Ali" I told her as I dialled Eliot's phone number.

What seemed like endless hours walking up and down various escalators, and bumping into every one of the friends we knew, I found myself slowly getting bored as I followed Alicia throughout the mall.
"You know, if we're secretly shopping for my birthday, you can tell me" I told Alicia as we roamed through the various stores, "Just a heads up, I'm overdue for a new jean jacket" I smirked to her, watching Alicia playfully roll her eyes.
"We're here for Jessa–" she told me, "–and what happened to the jacket your brother got you last year?"
"Just that, it's from my brother" I crinkled my nose.
