"Ate, look!"
We are inside a room full of toys. Dinala kami dito nina Mama at Papa but I don't know why they are just outside, looking at us. I looked at them and Mama waved at us. May katabi silang lady in a white coat. Nag-uusap sila pero hindi ko sila marinig.
"Ate, look!" Fourth cupped my cheek and made me look at her. Ipinakita niya ang isang box na maraming colors. Iniikot-ikot niya 'yon. It's like a puzzle.
"What is that?" tanong ko.
"I don't know," ngusong sabi ni Fourth. She twisted it.
"It's called a Rubik's cube, Fourth," si Dimitri. Nakaupo siya sa sofa and he's just looking at us. Si Third naman ay tahimik lang na nagcocolor sa isang paper. Nilapitan ko siya. I looked at what he was going and I saw the paper being drastically colored with black. May nakita akong guys na may hawak na guns. Later on, he cried so loud.
"Third!" I said and hugged him so tight. Napalapit si Fourth and First sa amin.
"I'm scared, ate," nanginginig si Third. Niyakap rin siya ni Fourth.
"Me too, Third," nakita ko narin siyang umiyak. Parehas ko silang niyakap. Ngayon, pati ako ay umiyak na rin. Natatakot ako para sa mga kapatid ko.
"Don't worry. I will protect all of you from now on."
Tinignan namin si First. Meron parin siyang black spot sa mata at sa lips niya. May malaking white plaster din siya sa noo. Puro kami may mga sugat sa faces dahil sa goons.
Niyakap kaming tatlo ni First. Later on, we stopped crying. He kissed all of us on our foreheads. He is really like Papa. He is sometimes serious and scary but I know that he loves us all.
"Come on, tell me what you're afraid of." Umupo siya sa floor with toys kaya sumunod kami. Pumunta si Fourth sa tabi niya, si Third naman ay sa tabi ko. We are forming a small circle.
"I'm now afraid of the dark, Kuya. I always remember the bad guys," sabi ni Third. Inakbayan ko siya and ni-comfort. He's still shaking. I kissed the top of his head.
"Kuya, I'm afraid of the dark now, too," dagdag ni Fourth.
"Okay. Then I will ask Papa to light up the whole house. No more dark places." Nakangiting sabi ni First.
"Kuya, takot narin ako sa big guys. 'Yong malalaki ang katawan."
"I will keep that in mind, Fourth. I will protect you. I will also tell it to Papa and Mama." He smiled at Fourth. He then looked at me. "You?"
I bit my lip when I remembered the bad guys being eaten by the dogs.
"Dogs. I'm afraid of them now."
"B-but we have dogs, right?" tanong ni Fourth. Tinignan siya ni First.
"Is it okay if we will let our dogs go? So that Second will not be scared?"
Nakita kong naluluha na naman si Fourth. Nalulungkot ako para sa kanya. She's a dog lover and she loves our little dogs so much.
"Okay lang, First. I could just avoid Popop, Koolah and Trimmer."
"No, Ate! I don't want you to be scared," Fourth protested. "Kuya, ipamigay nalang natin sina Popop, Koolah and Trimmer. Pero sa good guys."
