I walked up the stairs and was wondering what he was going to talk to me about.
I walked to his door, slowly, then opened it. He was behind his desk looking over something.
I stood in the doorway nervously before I attempted to open my mouth.
"Close the door, please and thank you."
     "Yes sir."
I closed the door and stood back in front of his desk. He didn't look-up.
     "Your ex is blackmailing me."
     "Yeah, I'm being blackmailed too."
     "That's why."
     "Excuse me?"
He put the paper down and looked at me.
"That's why I've been acting like a jerk. I'm a brand new teacher, and I can't jeopardize my first job especially if I want to be the lacrosse coach in the spring."
     "Oh, okay..."
I didn't know what to say. Should I say 'Well, sorry my ex is a manipulating bastard, but there is nothing I can do about it.' No, you don't say that.
"That's all." He said re-picking up the paper.
     "Of course, sir."
I turned to leave. I could tell that, that was not all that he wanted to say, but that is how he left it. I walked to the door then looked at him one more time.
     "One more thing."
I felt a glimpse of hope in what he was about to say.
     "Sir?"
"You should give Bennett another chance."
I felt all the hope that I just felt deflate like a balloon. I looked at him sitting there looking at a paper, put on a fake smile, and in a fake nice voice said,
     "Of course, sir."
