I got out of my car and locked it behind me. I heard music blaring and saw all the cars out front. Good thing it was a private estate. No cops tonight.
I liked no cops.
I walked up the driveway, looking over my shoulder a few times if a car pulled up to see if I recognized it as Taylor - or Justin.
As soon as I knocked on the door it opened and I saw Miley smiling at me.
"Hey girl come on in!" I stepped inside and looked around. I saw Mandy and Demi talking. There was Liam, Mitchell, Cody, Demi, Taylor (Swift of course), Caitlin, Jason, Iyaz. You name it. I spotted Taylor, the ex, talking in the corner. He glanced at me and I quickly walked away, my hands crashing into someones chest and thiers going to my waist for balance.
"Do You always do that?" A familiar voice asked.
"No. I'm sorry. I just- I didn't- Sorry."
Wow. Smooth Lauren.
"It's cool. Don't worry about it." I glanced over his shoulder and saw Taylor around the corner.
"Put your arm around me." I blurted.
"Huh?"
"Put your around me or something."
"Why?"
"Just do it." I said through clenched teeth. His hand slipped around my waist and Taylor was walking in our direction.
I'm not going to lie, I liked being this close to him. It gave me butterflies, but it wasn't real...
"Oh I see." Justin said, his eyes narrowing at Taylor.
Oh no. You told Taylor nothing was going on with Justin. You said if he proved he loved you you'd give him a chance, and now Justin's around is around your waist, holding you right at his side.
But I don't want to be back with Taylor. He lied.
"Yeah." I scooted a little closer. I didn't want him to feel like I was using him, but Justin didn't seem to mind. He could have said no. Taylor went the other way and I felt Justin drop his arm from my waist and I step away.
He didn't like me...
"Thanks." I said. "I didn't want him to try and talk to me again."
"No problem," He paused, looking at me for a moment. "Hey you wanna dance?"
That took me by surprise. No way had I expected that I had wanted it yes, but Justin had given me a ride home. And helped me avoid Taylor...
Something a friend would do. Which we used to be once upon a time.
And it's ok to dance with friends, right?
"Ok." I nodded, allowing him to take my hand with a smile and lead me over onto the dance floor. Not on the outside, but like towards the middle.
I guess that was a good thing for me. I didn't want Taylor to see me with him.
"I didn't even know you were coming tonight." I said over the music and turned my head to smile at him as he rested his hands on my waist from behind me.
"Neither did I. It was a last minute thing, but I thought it'd be fun."
"I thought it'd be fun too. Good thing." I chuckled. Did I really say that? Wow.
We danced a few more songs. I forgot everything. Who I was, where I was, even the fact that I was trying to make Taylor jealous seemed to vanish. I was having fun. With Justin. Someone 24 hours ago I wasn't even thinking about. We were just dancing. That's it.
