Chapter 13

“Where’s he going?” I asked Tariq when I walked through the school doors to see Kyle walking off with some woman in a suit; I looked down at the football and took it off him, kicking it in the air. “She made him show her where the staff room is” Tariq said, I looked at him and nodded then kicked the football back to him, we stood next to the doors for a few minutes talking and kicking the football to one another but I walked off with Denzil and Scout. I spent about 20 minutes talking with Scout, Denzil, Phoenix, Shona and Rhona before we walked to English together and waited outside the classroom “Who’s that’?” I said pointing to the woman who had taken Kyle away this morning, I looked at Scout and we both shrugged “Okay, Nikki, you’ll be taking year 12s and Vanessa you’ll be taking my year 13 class” Mr Clarkson said to the two women he was stood with, I looked at Scout before walking inside the classroom with her, I threw my bag on the floor and sat beside her at the back with Denzil and Phoenix in front of us and Rhona and Shona beside.

“RIGHT! Listen up!  Shut it all of you” the woman shouted to us all as we started simmering down on the noise, we all looked forwards at the teacher but we weren’t completely settled “Right, I’m Miss Boston” the woman said and entwined her fingers together “Newbie” Denzil said to the side and we all burst out laughing. “Everybody finished? Good. Okay, I’ve been told that you’re all familiar with Hard Times, Charles Dickens” Miss Boston said and we all groaned, we’d never even heard of that book, we’d been doing To Kill a Mockingbird the term before not Charles Dickens “Never ‘eard of it” Me and Scout said in unison and through the books down on the desk as Shona and Rhona started giggling. “Obviously something is very amusing, you want to share it?” Miss Boston called out to Shona and Rhona as they stopped giggling so much “No” Shona said and stopped laughing, I looked back at them smiled then picked up the book looking at it as if it was from another planet “Right, who can give me an idea of the themes from the novel?” Miss Boston said, her hands in her pockets as she stood in front of the desk and surveyed us all. “You” Miss Boston said and nodded to Emily, I looked at Scout then leant forwards on the desk, smirking waiting for Emily’s answer “Erm, it’s just all factories in the old days. Just dead boring” Emily said, I looked at Scout and shook my head “On that penetrating analysis that you’ve at least read the back page” Miss Boston said and me and Scout burst into laughter “Oh so you’re trying to say she’s thick” Rhona said and we all sniggered, realising what Miss Boston had technically said was that Emily was thick, which we all knew any way. “No, it’s just lazy. And it sounds like she’s not alone” Miss Boston said “Well, this book is rubbish, Miss, what’s it gotta do with us?” I asked, leaning back on my chair crossing my legs over each other. “Well, it’s-it’s set here, in the North West of England and some of you may have ancestors who worked at the factories and mills” Miss Boston said and sat back on the desk, I’d pretty much zoned out by this point since I really couldn’t be bothered. I leant my head on the desk and tried to have a nap, I must have been about dozing off when someone suddenly poked me in the arm, I looked up expecting to see Miss Boston looking down at me but instead I saw a note in front of me Meet me in the changing rooms at break xxx it read, I looked at Scout then over at Denzil and Phoenix, they both look oblivious to the note and was looking forwards at Miss Boston, I shrugged and crumpled the paper up in my pocket. I sat back and watched as Miss Boston shouted at Rhona and Shona and made them stand at the front for the rest of the lesson we then started doing a quiz on the book which we actually did quite well on in my opinion, Miss Boston disagreed.

When the bell went for break, I packed all my things away and walked out the classroom not even waiting to be dismissed, I walked over to Kyle and Tariq and kissed Kyle before pulling away “Someone sent me a note to meet them in the changing room” I said to Kyle and showed him the note, he read the note then looked at me with fury in his eyes. “Right, I’ll come with you, when you find out who it was and what they want you come out and get me okay?” Kyle said, I just nodded and we walked away from Tariq hand in hand going to the changing room. Kyle waited outside as I walked through the door “Hello?” I called out as I let the door swing shut slowly, I looked around and was about to leave when nobody came into view, I went to open the door when I heard footsteps behind me and turned to see Denzil. “Denz? You sent the note? What’s wrong?” I asked and laughed a little at the silliness of sending a note when he could have just asked me face to face in class. “I really like you, Kaitlin, and I know that you like me too” Denzil suddenly blurted out, I stumbled back but he grabbed me and pushed his lips onto mine “What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” I screamed at him and pushed him off; he fell to the floor and looked up at me, hurt. “Denzil, I love Kyle, how can you even think that I like you like that?! You’re my best friend, like a fucking brother not a boyfriend!” I shouted at him then stormed out the changing room, Kyle turned around to me “What happened?” he asked, I knew if I told Kyle then Denzil would get hurt which I really didn’t want “Nobody” I said and grabbed his hand, pulling him away but he stopped and pulled me back “Just leave it, Kyle” I said, he looked at me with venom in his eyes, it was only then that I realised he’d tightened his grip on my hand “Ow, Kyle, you’re hurting me” I whimpered and he dropped my hand “Fine, as long as whoever it was didn’t hurt you” he said a little more calmly, “I’m fine” I reassured him and put my arm through his and walked away again. We were walking down the corridor when we past the pastoral care office “Won’t be a minute” Kyle said when he saw Trudi and Finn inside, I sighed and rolled my eyes and went to look out the window, I looked over at the gates and squinted a little “I’ll meet you later” I said to Kyle as he wrapped his fingers round the door handle, Kyle nodded and I walked away down the corridor, the steps and out into the car park. I jogged up the drive and out the gates going round to where Josh was “What ya doing?” I asked, walking up to him, as I got nearer I saw he was smoking and could smell it was weed. “Josh!” I snapped and snatched it away from him dropping it to the ground and putting it out with my foot. “Oi, that’s Josh’s not yours” the guy he was with snapped at me, he came past Josh and leered up to me “Oh yeah and what ya gonna do? Josh is a mate, I’d rather he didn’t turn into a druggie like you obviously are” I spat at him, he grabbed me round the collar and pushed me up against the railing “Grady! Leave ‘er alone” Josh said, the guy who was obviously Grady turned away from me and at Josh “Are you for real? She just did out my supplies for no good reason” Grady snapped at Josh then pushed me back even harder against the railing, “Grady, she’s a mate, she’s just looking out for me. Let ‘er go” Josh said and tried to pull Grady’s hands off me, I just stood there and watched as they pretty much wrestled with each other, the only time I looked away was when I heard shouting from inside the school grounds. I turned back and Josh and Grady had already ran off when Miss Boston came out. “Are you okay? I saw from the window” Miss Boston asked, she put a hand on my back and walked me back through the gates and down the drive way “Yeah I’m fine” I said and walked away from her, going over to Kyle and Tariq. After break I had Maths then went to the common room where I saw Kyle “Hey” I said and sat down at the computer next to him “Still not gonna tell who it was?” Kyle asked as I logged into my Facebook, I just shook my head and checked my new message. “Aw, Brooklyn wants to meet up tonight” I said out loud and Kyle looked away from his computer and looked at mine, he read the message then looked at the picture “Aw nice, can I come?” Kyle asked a flirty smile plastered on his face, I looked at him with an unimpressed look then punched him in the arm as hard as I could. “Alright, alright, I was only joking, you’re the only one for me baby” Kyle said and kissed me before we both went back to what we were doing. I messaged Brooklyn back then started having a conversation with her while starting on my Art coursework. “Kyle, gotta job for ya” I looked up to see Chalky talking to Kyle and handing him a camera, I looked at Chalky then shook my head and let Kyle do whatever it was he was doing. After about 10 minutes I’d finished my coursework and got up from my seat, going to the printer.

“What’d ya think?” I asked Kyle when I stuck all my coursework down on some sugar paper at the end of lunch “Looks great babe” Kyle smiled and unplugged the camera from the computer, he logged off the computer and walked out with me so I could take my work to my art teacher. After lunch I had Music, I left Kyle to go to his lesson and walked into the classroom walking over to Scout, we’d been talking for a few minutes when the door opened and Denzil walked in with Phoenix, we looked at each other then I stalked off to the back of the classroom, it was a double Music lesson and I didn’t speak to anyone through the whole time.

“I’m going round to Kyle’s” I said to me my dad at the end of the day, dad nodded and I walked out hand in hand with Kyle. We walked through the door to his flat and sat on the sofa together cuddled up, we’d been sat together for about half an hour before Kyle turned to me, he smiled then pressed his lips against mine and I felt his hand go up my skirt.  

AN: Sorry late update been at school then had coursework/revision/tutoring to do lololol. Also I'll point out now I won't be writing out any rape scenes, 1. out of respect and 2. because I'd have no clue where to start so let's pretend he is doing it but she's hiding it weel, okay?
