Unrequited Love

☆☆☆

"So how does it feel like?"

"What do you think?" She asks.

"It sucks, doesn't it? It sucks to be the second choice."

She smiles a little. "That's true. Well, you can talk to him while watching the stars dance in his eyes. You can hear him laugh so loud that it's the best sound you've ever heard. You can recognize his smile; whether it's real or fake. You can point out his voice in the loudest crowd. You can figure out the sudden change in his tone. You know him like the back of your hand."

"But?"

She lets out a chuckle. "But you'll watch the stars dance in his eyes at the mention of her name. You'll hear him laugh about how she makes his day. You'll recognize his real smile when he talks about her. You'll point out his voice shouting her name. You'll figure out his loving tone when the topic is her. You know him like the back of your hand that he would never do the same if it were you."

"Does it hurt that much?"

She takes a deep, shaking breath, trying to hide her glistening eyes.

With a humorless laugh, she answers, "It doesn't hurt me. It kills me."
