   Arthur grinned as he unlocked the front door. "(y/n-" He began, but stopped when he realized the house was dark and quiet. The Brit left his suitcase by the door and quietly crept up the stairs, slightly worried because of what happened last time he came home to a dark and silent house. When he slowly pushed open the door to your room he couldn't help but smile. You were curled up around a pillow, your head of (h/l) hair barely sticking out from under quite a few blankets. Arthur slowly approached your bed and knelt down beside you. "(y/n)" He whispered, reaching out and brushing some hair out of your face. You didn't move. "(y/n)?" He whispered slightly urgently, shaking you a little harder.

   Without opening your eyes, you pushed his hand off your arm and pulled your blankets up to your nose. "(y/n), i'm home." Arthur chuckled, tucking some hair behind your ear. Your eyes shot open and you looked at him in surprise. "Morning." He smiled. The Brit could see your eyes crinkle from your smile, which was hidden under all your blankets. "Are you cold?" He asked, "You have a lot of blankets."

  "A little." You said, hugging the pillow tighter to you. "You want some breakfast? I can make eggs and hash browns." Your dad said gently, ruffling your hair. "I can make them. You look tired." You muttered. "I'm not too tired." Arthur argued, stifling a yawn. You smiled at him knowingly, and he narrowed his eyes. "Ignore that. I am not tired." He said. "You should sleep. I don't need breakfast." You yawned, rolling over and curling into a tighter ball. "Yes, you do. You can't just not eat." Your dad sighed. "I'm fine, just sleepy." You mumbled. "Because you stayed up all night making cookies?" He asked, "Alfred told me all about it."

    "Yeah." You said quietly. Arthur could see you tense, as if you feared he was angry with you. "I bet that was fun." He said gently. "Yeah." You repeated. "I think," He smiled, "We should both sleep in, and then we can go somewhere fun for lunch. Okay?"

  "...Okay."

~~~~~~~~
Arthur: I'm back!
Alfred: Ha nice. Is (y/n) happy to see you?
Arthur: Yeah, she's pretty sleepy though.
Alfred: Lmao I can imagine. You coming into work today?
Arthur: Nah, they're not expecting me until monday.
  You wandered down the stairs sleepily, letting out a yawn and rubbing your eye. "Hey there, sleepyhead." Arthur smiled from the couch, where he was watching TV. "Did you sleep?" You asked as you flopped down beside him. "Nah." He replied, "Are you hungry? I was thinking we could go to the breakfast place a few blocks away. We haven't been there in a while."
  You looked to him in confusion before you remembered the restaurant you had gone to with him and Uncle Alfred the first day you met. "Oh, that one." You said, "Yeah, okay."
   Your dad laughed quietly at you before turning back to the TV. You watched the news together in silence for while before Arthur looked at his phone. "The place closes in an hour, so we should get going." He said. You nodded, and you both wandered up the stairs and into your respective rooms to change out of your pajamas. You decided on your favorite skinny jeans and a slightly oversized sweater. "Ready?" Arthur asked from the bottom of the stairs once you appeared. "Yeah." You said quietly before following him out the door to the cold morning outside.
  "It sure is cold!" Arthur said cheerily as you jogged down the stairs after him. "Yeah." You smiled slightly. The Brit grinned at you and put his arm around your shoulders affectionately. "Alfred said you said you missed me~" He teased, making you laugh. "I did." You grinned. "Good. I missed you too." He smiled, releasing you from the half hug as you walked side by side.
  Once you got to the small restaurant, Arthur held the door open for you and let a waitress lead the two of you to a booth in the back corner. "So," Arthur sighed happily once you had ordered, with him insisting you order double what you had originally planned, "How was it while I was gone?"
  "It was fine." You smiled, "Boring."
  "It didn't seem boring! You fought Richard and got those." Arthur laughed, reaching over to poke the healing cuts on the side of your forehead. "Yeah. And I got stuck in that tree." You grinned. "Yeah. You ready to go back to school?" He asked. You wrinkled your nose, making him chuckle again as the waitress brought your food. The two of you ate in comfortable silence, you doing your best to match your eating pace to Arthur's to avoid eating slow like you normally did. "You're eating fast," Arthur said. You looked up to him curiously with your fork halfway to your mouth, wondering if he had noticed what you were doing, and he just laughed and continued eating his pancakes.
  He, in fact, had noticed what you were doing, and held in a sigh at your constant attempts to not inconvenience. The Brit glanced at you again before beginning to eat significantly slower. Without even looking up, you copied him and ate at the same pace. It took a bit longer to finish the meal than he intended, but at least you weren't scarfing down your food like it was the end of the world. After your dad paid for the meal and you were on your way home, you couldn't help but smile to yourself. Arthur glanced over at you beside him and sighed happily. It was good to be back.
Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyy sorry this is so short and filler but i need to get it out of the way before the cool stuff happens
