“One… two…Twee…Fo…Five! Here I come!”

I heard the light footsteps coming down the hall. I saw her walk by through the crack of the slight open closet door.

“Where aaare you!”

I smile to myself as I can clearly picture her confused expression. Her big blue eyes looking around as her small hands open doors and slide along the wall as she walks through the flat. Her bare feet making pitter patter on the wood floors. No matter how many times I tell her not to walk around bare foot, she still goes against my rules. She loves the feeling of the cold floor under her toes. Even on colder days I struggle to make her wear socks. Except for rainy days because she knows that after a good storm, we can go out and jump in the puddles. She is something special, that little girl. I always set down rules but she manages to make me bend them and she gets her way sometimes. But she is my little girl and I try my best to make her happy. I always take advantage of every free minute I have to spend it with her. Now I’m smiling like an idiot in a dark closet. Which reminds me, she is still looking for me. I make my way out of the close and close the door behind me.

“Izzy!” that’s her nickname by the way. “Princess, I’m not hiding anymore!” where could she be. Not in the kitchen. Not in the bathroom. Not in the living room. I make my way to the room and she is not there either. My heart pounds faster as I walk to her room, her favorite place to be. “Princes Isabelle?” Nothing but toys. She has to be somewhere around here. She could not have left the flat. Although she can turn the knob on the front door if she stands on her toes, she still is not tall enough to reach the lock. Unless I left it unlocked. “Shit.”

I was about to lose my mind when I feel two arms wrap around me at my knees.

“I found your Daddy!”

A wave of relief washed over me. Looking down I saw those big blue eyes and that beautiful smile. I picked her up and hugged her tight

“Yes you did baby.” She giggled and wrapped her arms around my neck.

“You hided good!” I held her in my arms and showered her with kisses feeling my heart beat go back to normal.

“Daddy, can we make cookies?” giving her one final kiss on her chubby cheek I smiled at the mini girl version of me.

“Of course we can” she clapped her hands in excited and wiggled out of my arms. I set her down and watched her run off to the kitchen. It’s time like this when I think about my life if I didn’t have her. She changed it in a good way. She is my pride and joy.

“Daddy!”

“Coming princess!”
