Harry had been deployed about 7 months ago now and it’s hard raising our baby girl without him. He’s only seen her about 4 times since she was born, but our little Sophia definitely knows who he is. She’s always asking where daddy is and when he’s coming home but I can never really give her an answer. ~~ “come on soph! cooperate with me, grandma Anne’s coming over you need to let me dress you” I struggled with the 2 year old in front of me “daddy gon be wif granma?” I sighed and shook my head no “I told you baby daddy’s at work” I rubbed her back as she frowned but nodded and finally let me dress her. ~~ “grandmas here!!” Anne called through the house, Sophia’s head shot up and she stumbled over to Anne and jumped in her arms “well hello baby! you look very pretty” she cooed and Sophia giggled “have you heard from Harry?” I asked hopefully “we briefly talked on the phone a few nights ago” she smiled sadly “any news?” Anne walked into the living room and put Sophia down on the floor “he’s not coming home anytime soon (y/n) he said he requested leave but they really need him right now” I nodded and held back my tears “you’ll see him again (y/n) I promise you” she kissed my forehead “daddy! daddy!” Sophia squealed from sitting position in front of the window “no baby remember what mommy said?” as I got up to go pick her up Harry walked through the doors in his uniform. “oh my god” I fell on my knees with my hand over my mouth. “daddy daddy daddy! there you awer” Sophia squealed running over and jumping in Harry’s arms “your home” I cried whilst running over and hugging him “hi guys I’m home” he had the biggest smile on his face “daddy! daddy! I miss you” “I miss you too baby girl!” he kept giving Sophia kisses all over her face while she giggled “I love you both” he smiled as I took Sophia and he walked over to Anne “mom” he said just above a whisper with tears in his eyes “my baby’s home!” she sobbed hugging on to him like her life depended on it “I missed you so much mom” he wiped his tears “(y/n) don’t just stand there come on” Anne beckoned me over. “babe” I smiled looking at Harry giving Sophia to Anne “I’m home” he smiled “for good?” “for good” he confirmed. I jumped into his arms and connected our lips, he pulled away “god I missed you” he whispered tears still in his eyes “you have no idea how bad I’ve missed you” I cried finally letting the tears fall “mommy don’t cwy” Sophia said reaching her arms out for me to pick her up “there happy tears baby girl, daddy’s home that’s why I’m crying” I reassured her “ooh” she smiled “Sophia did you miss daddy?” Anne asked “yeah yeah! I di granma! but but I no have to miss no more” she kicked her legs in excitement as Harry picker her up “that’s right baby you don’t have to miss anymore” he smiled and kissed her forehead. we spent the evening together catching up before Anne Insisted we needed family time and left. Harry and Sophia fell asleep together on the couch. And from then on I knew we’re were a solid family.
