Eyes

Eyes are the windows to the soul, they say
Are they?
All I see is just a pupil and and an iris
Did I something miss?

All I see are eyes of every color
Sometimes, they're all a blur
But I can't see into the soul of a person through their eyes
I don't know where this saying comes from, that I surmise

You could see something when you look into someone's eyes, though
You could see how smart they really are
You could sort of see how their mind flows
You could see a lot, but you can't see far
You can't see far into the eyes of a person, that's true
But, when you look hard enough, you can see you

My first statement is true, although I did contradict it
Eyes don't tell you much, although on the face, they do fit
The way to tell how someone is, is by getting to know them, or looking at their face
Not at their eyes, specifically, but at their pace
How they hold themselves, and how they look
But don't judge them like you'd judge a cover of a book

Eyes ARE the windows to the soul, in a way
Although I can't see it, they're there to stay
