Chapter 39
Tobias' POV:

Tris has been in labor for 7 hours now. She's scared. Scared for the birth, scared for her children's lives, scared for her life. I would trade places with her if I could, but I decide not to tell her that. She's been very moody.

"Tris?" I ask softly.

"What Four?" She says, annoyed.

I know she isn't herself right now but the fact that she called me Four stung a little.

I sigh. "Do you want some water?"

"Yes."

I grab a bottle of water off the table and hand it to her.

"Thanks," she mumbles, unscrewing the lid.

"You're welcome," I push a piece of hair behind her ear and kiss her forehead.

Suddenly she gasps, squeezing the plastic bottle and splattering the liquid all over herself and a little bit on me.

I take the water out of her hand and replace it with my hand.

"It's ok Tris," I say, trying to soothe her through her contraction.

"No it's not!" She yells through clenched teeth.

"I know, I know," I say, again, trying to soothe her pain.

Eventually the contraction stops and she looks at what she'd spilled on herself and I.

Tris' eyes well up and she cries, "What did I do? Oh my--"

"Tris," I cut her off, "it's fine. No big deal."

"But-but I got water all over me... And you!" She cries.

I hug her gently. "Tris, it doesn't bother me. And I can ask for a new hospital gown for you if you want."

She nods, and I press the call button.

A nurse is in the room within a few minutes.

"Is something wrong?" The middle-aged nurse asks.

"She spilled water on her gown, could we please get a new one?" I ask.

The nurse sees Tris crying and rubs her shoulder sympathetically. "Of course I can."

"Thank you, I appreciate it," I tell her. She nods.

"Thank you Tobias," Tris says.

"No problem, Tris. I love you."

"I love you too," she replies motioning for me to kiss her.

"We're gonna be parents again pretty soon," I whisper when we separate.

"Yeah," she says smiling.

The nurse comes back with the new hospital gown and helps me get Tris into it.

"Thank you," Tris tells the nurse.

"No problem sweetie," she replies sweetly.

After Tris going through another 4 contractions her doctor comes in.

"Hi Mrs. Eaton! How are you feeling?"

"As good as you can feel during labor," Tris sighs.

"We have about another 2 hours until we're ready to take these babies out," the doctor informs us.

"Take them out?" Tris asks.

"Yes, a c-section."
