Chapter 37
Tobias' POV:

It's been a month since one of the twins broke one of Tris' ribs. She's still wearing her brace, but she's ok with it. She's due in half a month. But, the doctors say that multiples normally come early. So, now we're just waiting for her to go into labor.

Right now, Tris and I are in the cafeteria. The only reason we're here for breakfast is because the infirmary is close just in case her water breaks or something .

"Sooooo Tris?" Christina says happily. "Are you ready to have some babies?!"

"I'm ready for them to be here, I just don't want to go through the birth," she laughs nervously. "Is it that bad Chris?"

"Oh it's terrible," she answers. "The most painful thing you'll ever go through," Tris grimaces, "but it's worth it."

"You'll be fine Tris," I tell her reassuringly. "I'll be there for you."

"You won't feel any of it Tobias!" She complains. "You're so lucky."

"I would trade places with you in a heartbeat though," I tell her truthfully.

"Sure you would," she chuckles.

"I would."

"What about you Shauna, are you ready?" Tris asks her, turning the attention away from herself. Shauna has about a week until her due date.

She sighs. "I guess so."

"You both will do great," Christina says. "I'm so excited!"

"Do you wanna go to the chasm?" I ask.

"The chasm?" She says in surprise. "Yeah! I never thought you'd let me go down there while I was pregnant."

"I'll be there to keep you safe," I tell her.

We make our way carefully through the Pit and then down to the chasm. I clutch Tris' had hard to make sure she doesn't slip.

Tris eases herself down onto the rocks, with my help, and sighs.

"I love it down here," she states blissfully.

"So do I."

We sit in silence for a few minutes, our hands intertwined.

"They like it too," Tris moves my hand (the one she was holding) to her stomach. The twins are kicking happily. I smile.

"I love you," I tell her.

"I love you too, Tobias."

We sit in a comfortable silence for a long time.

Tris and I walk--well, she waddles--back to our apartment.

She plops down on the couch, and sighs.

"Are you tired?" I chuckle.

I laugh.

"Don't laugh, you're not the one carrying two babies!" She says.

I put my hands up in surrender. Then, I hear a knock on the door.

Tris stays seated on the the couch, and I open our front door.

"Evelyn?" I say, surprised.

"Hey Tobias!" She hugs me.

"What are you doing here?" I ask, as she walks in.

She doesn't answer and finds Tris seated on the sofa.
