Chapter 18 - Don't Revelations Suck?

Start from the beginning

Julie reminded Amy of a concerned parent – not that Amy would really know what that was. After all, her parents were away so much that it was hard to even know what having a parent would be like. Her mom was always on business trips across the country and her dad was usually with her or sometimes just visiting his college friends.

Julie’s kids were going to be very lucky to have her – if she ever had any kids, that is.

“Yeah, of course,” Amy said through another fake smile. She was getting happier as the seconds ticked by though, just talking to her friend and not Melissa, “So, um, what’s up?”

David turned to face her, his brown eyes sparkling. It must be amazing to have someone look at you like that, Amy thought with a larger grin than before.

He ran the hand that wasn’t holding Julie’s through his hair, “Me and Jules were just planning our next date.”

Amy crossed her arms uncomfortably, “Oh, sorry for interrupting then,” she gushed, her knees already bent in preparation to leave, “I’ll go. Yeah, sorry.”

Julie caught her arm and giggled in that childish way of hers. For someone so small, she sure was strong, “Amy, wait,” she laughed and David chuckled too, “Seriously, don’t worry about it. You didn’t interrupt anything. In fact, you should join us!”

Amy’s eyebrows shot up but she couldn’t help smile, “And be a third wheel?” she joked, all worries of her messy hair gone from her mind, “No thanks.”

Julie continued to giggle but Amy could tell that she was serious. What did she plan to do? Set her up with some guy that she didn’t even know? Amy would have to tell her ‘no thanks’ because the last time she’d gone out with someone she hadn’t known very well, it hadn’t exactly been the best date in the world. Chills coursed down her spine and she shuddered at the memory.

Julie pouted and batted her eyes, her hands clasped in front of her, “Please, Amy! Please!” she begged; her expression melting into a puppy-dog face, “It will be so much fun! And David can find one of his guy friends and it will be so awesome. Please!”

Amy began to shake her head but as she watched Julie’s face, she couldn’t help but agree. What could it hurt? David was a nice guy... he had nice friends... right?

Melissa groaned behind Amy’s shoulder, making her presence known. Trailing behind her was Chris although he didn’t seem to be paying that much attention to their conversation, only catching a few words here and there.

“Are you really that desperate that you have to get Julie to get a date for you?” Melissa commented, running her eyes over Amy in disgust.

Julie stuck out her chin, “Actually, since there are so many guys who want Amy, I just have to choose the best one,” she argued, cocking her neck to the side as she tried to fight for her friend.
