As the man said that he could vouch for Quinn, Roman's daughter stared at him, chewing on her lower lip.
— No offense, Detective, but I'm not going to remove Quinn from my list of suspects just because she's your daughter. Come on, she's got a cop dad and a promiscuous lifestyle, it's a damn classic, she's at the top of my list. — The former redhead stated firmly, but she quietly mumbled an apology for using the term "promiscuous lifestyle" when Samantha gave her a slightly reproachful look, tightening her grip on their intertwined fingers.
— There's also Ethan, Ethan Landry. I don't know him very well, at least, but he's Chad's roommate, and he's already part of my inner circle of friends. — The older Carpenter added as her girlfriend remained silent, pouting due to being forced to apologize. — You know, Ethan's a suspicious guy, too, all innocent and quiet. An obvious psychopath.
— Is there anyone who might want to harm one of you? Or all of you? — The detective asked, hoping that the three girls in front of him would help narrow down the list of suspects.
—_ Mmm, the whole internet? Thanks to Gale Weathers and her latest book, everyone thinks I'm just Sammy's bloodthirsty dog, who's also a ruthless killer, and she's setting me up against all her enemies.
— Yeah, people on the internet can say whatever they want, but that doesn't mean any of them would be brave enough to face you or Sam, let alone put on a mask and take action. — The younger Carpenter said, turning to her former best friend.
Katherine looked at Tara before dropping her watery gaze down. She couldn't imagine how much she missed her friend. Yes, they live in the same apartment, but the gap between them is not only not narrowing, it seems that the gap is only getting wider and deeper.
Macher began to play with Samantha's fingers, trying to distract herself from the warmth spreading in her chest from Tara's words. In a strange way, she took her ex-best friend's words as if she was trying to tell her that she wasn't just the crazy, bloodthirsty mongrel of the elder Carpenter.
Yes, she was definitely desperate as hell.
When another officer entered the room and Detective Bailey left, Sam turned half-way to her girlfriend.
— You shouldn't have said all that about Quinn to her father, especially to a police officer. And, didn't you like Quinn before? I remember you used to hang out together a lot. What's going on with these accusations against her?
— I may have been a little friendly towards her, as well as towards Ethan, by the way, but after Ghostface returned, I changed my attitude. Come on, Samantha, you know there's a very good chance that one of them is the one behind the mask and costume. Or maybe even two of them, that's an immortal classic, isn't it?
— Mhm, no objections. — The younger Carpenter added, flicking her fingers in the direction of the former redhead in agreement with her words.
— But right now, I'm less interested in Quinn, Ethan, and Ghostface in general. I'm more interested in who that man was who helped us.
— He definitely knows you. You heard him call your name. — Leaning forward to see her former best friend through her older sister, Tara said.
As soon as the detective reappeared in the doorway, Sidney's niece wasted no time and bluntly asked him who the man from the bodega had been who had helped them and survived. And with only a few scratches.
— He said his name was Oliver Milton. We've checked it out and it's true. Does anyone know the name? — Bailey sat down on a chair and stared at the three girls, but the two Carpenter sisters turned their heads in the direction of Leslie's daughter.
