— I don't have time to explain everything, but it's not Amber. This is Sam Carpenter, I told you about her. — Katherine began to ramble, thinking that if she spoke fast enough, the two women would not understand her words and would temporarily let this situation go.
— Drama, drama. — Stu was giggling, rubbing his palms together. For the fullness of the image, all he needed was to start jumping up and maybe stick out his tongue, which was his calling card.
Murphy wanted to turn to him and bark «not now!», but she remembered in time that only she sees her psychopathic uncle. Making Prescott and Riley think she was crazy about everything that was going on didn't sound like a very pleasant idea.
The redhead looked towards the door and smiled faintly when she saw Amber panting. Her hair was slightly disheveled, and her clothes were untidy.
— Baby. — Freeman, smiling with relief, rushed to her girlfriend. She grabbed her cheeks and began to turn her head from side to side, examining the new wounds on Katherine's face. — I'm sorry it took me so long. — Her voice was low, but her concern seemed genuine. Her eyes seemed to be particularly attracted to the deep scratch above her eyebrow with several white strips of plaster to compress the edges of the wounds.
Amber looked around and, ignoring the two women next to her girlfriend, stared at Samantha and Tara hugging.
— My car is in the parking lot. But let's go to yours, okay? — Katherine murmured into Freeman's shoulder as the brunette grabbed the back of her head and hugged her, pressing her head against her collarbone.
Amber pulled away from Murphy only when she heard someone clearing their throat nearby. She stared at the two women and whispered in her girlfriend's ear.
— Isn't that your godmother? Sidney Prescott?
The redhead took a step back from the brunette and awkwardly muttered something to herself. She pointed first at the two women and then at Freeman, introducing them to each other.
— Auntie Sid, Tatum, this is Amber. Amber, this is my godmother and her wife, Tatum.
— Nice to meet you. — Amber, after examining the two women with a strange look that was so fleeting that it went unnoticed, held out her hand to Sidney to shake.
Katherine looked at the interaction between her girlfriend, her godmother and the wife of this godmother, while a plan was forming in her head. For its full implementation, she must go to her home.
Out of the corner of her eye, Murphy noticed how Samantha, grabbing the handles of the wheelchair on which Tara was still sitting, rolled it to the exit, before looking directly in her direction.
— We have to go. — Freeman gently pointed out, touching the redhead's shoulder, pulling her out of her thoughts as her eyes followed the Carpenter sisters through the parking lot. Richie joined them, although he stayed away from Sam.
And so, she really broke up with him. Hmm.
— Yes, it's time.
Sidney, seeing Sam and Tara leave, nodded in their direction, pointing Tatum at them, and both women also gathered.
— Yes, we also have some things to do. — Prescott went up to her goddaughter, kissed her on the forehead and smiled reassuringly. — I'll see you later.
-----------
Katherine rested her forehead against the window, watching the trees whiz by while Amber sat at the wheel. She, at the request of her girlfriend, took them to her motorhome to, quote, «finish some business, but I'll be at your party for Wes».
