— You called a house with hot girls. — The hostess of the house rolled her eyes at her friend, poked her in the side and went about her business somewhere deep into the house, before whispering «It sounds like this is a brothel, not my house».
There was silence on the other side of the line for a couple of seconds before a man's voice rang out.
— No, it's not Tara, and certainly not Kristina. — Murphy replied, glancing into the hallway to see where Tara had gone, and pressed her hips against the stone countertop. — No, I can't hand her the phone yet, she's busy. If it's something serious, then Mr. «I won't-tell-you-my-name-because-you-aren't-Tara-Carpenter» can wait, and if not, drop the call.
Katherine didn't know why, but she was startled by the man's voice on the other side of the connection and slightly removed the landline phone from her ear. Something was bothering her. She's afraid of the phone call. She's damn near twenty-two years old now.
— Hey, Tara? Will you be there soon? — Murphy screamed, clutching the phone to her shoulder, muffling the sounds for her interlocutor. Her fingers automatically reached for the pendant, but she stopped herself by withdrawing her hand and placing it on her hip instead.
— I'm already here. — Carpenter seemed to come out of nowhere and scared her friend, almost making her scream, although there was nothing terrible about her. She held a stack of letters under her armpit, which she quickly threw on the table and picked up the phone.
Tara started talking to the man and mouthed to her friend, «This is Charlie, apparently my mom's new boyfriend». Then a phrase sounded that made Katherine flinch, and her gaze shifted for a second to the rack of knives.
Well, no, it's just a coincidence. Yes, it's just a question of «what's your favorite scary movie». Nothing like that. Yeah.
Murphy snuggled up to Carpenter, wanting to eavesdrop on the conversation with this Charlie. The brunette rolled her eyes at her, poked her in the side again, but allowed her to stand next to her and listen.
The discussion turned to the film Stab, which, as everyone remembers, was based on real events taking place in their hometown. Well, at least the first few films. It would be almost a sin to live in Woodsboro and not watch these movies.
Although the latter was extremely bad.
When Charlie asked if Tara remembered the beginning of the original Stab, Katherine tapped her on the shoulder to get her attention. First she pointed at the phone, then at Carpenter herself, then at herself, whispered «fifty-fifty», and then circled her finger around the house, with the same finger a second later she «cut» her throat.
— It's a girl at home, alone. She answers a wrong number and starts talking with the killer, who makes her play a game. — Murphy glanced at the landline and gestured with her fingers for her friend to hang up. — Your friend, Katherine, was absolutely right, even that she shouldn't be there according to all the canons. Would you like to play a game, Tara?
Carpenter quickly put down the call and began to breathe heavily.
Katherine looked around quickly, then grabbed Tara's phone and shoved it into her hands. — Turn on the security system. — And she went to the rack with knives and pulled out two. — Here, take it. This guy sounded like a real psycho.
Carpenter took the knife only after she went into a special application and blocked the front door.
— Is Amber still texting you? Don't let her come here. — Murphy muttered to the brunette and took her own phone out of her pants pockets, which received several messages from her girlfriend Freeman, alarmed that she was in the Carpenter house, where, obviously, some fierce shit was happening.
