After whatever that interaction was I waited outside the chemistry room for birdie and told her she could come over and I'd just ask Colton for forgiveness instead.

To be honest I don't think he'd mind.

"And detention?" Birdie asked as soon as she stepped out of the class and saw me.

"Already had it. Mrs Morris said I could have early detention and go home early."

"Then why do you look so pissed?" Birdie asked looping my arms with hers.

As we walked down the hallway, I could see miss Fairbourne coming towards us and I sighed annoyed as she passed us. I'm pretty sure she heard though because she looked at me differently than before, like she didn't mean what she said when I turned to see her once more.

"Oh my gosh, did you just—tell me." Birdie exclaimed as we exited the building.

"Long story." I brushed her off.

"Long car ride, spill." She said.

"Okay but promise you won't freak out. Or lecture me yeah? And don't tell anyone."

"Promise but Zoë doesn't count. We know this." She said holding out her pinky for me.

"Fine." I said interlinking our pinky's before we jumped into my car.

"Okay, I definitely have had a small crush on miss Fairbourne." I started.

"Letty, that was obvious. You always used to say that she brightens your day and we wondered how the bitchy teacher would brighten your day. But go on." She let me continue.

"Anyways I didn't realise that she had whatever feelings towards me even if our conversations were a bit flirty, I thought it was just that. And today while I was in detention with her there was an incident and I might have kissed her." I said softly.

Externally I was calm and pissed off at her for brushing it aside.

But inside, I was filled with butterflies and the feeling of her lips lingering on me.

"Collette!!" Birdie screamed making me jump slightly behind the wheel.

"I'm so proud of you! Oh my gosh. I know I said at the beginning of the year to live a little, but this is living more than a little. Wait so is there like anything else? Do you guys talk out of school? Oh my god, she's our teacher." Birdie said the last part coming a realisation that I had.

"I know not ideal." I said sighing.

"What do you mean? Okay maybe it isn't ideal, ideal but still. Realistically there isn't that much of an age gap, it's like my brother and I, like 6-ish—7–years I think. It's not that bad." Birdie added she seems more excited than I am about kissing her.

I'd do it over and over again because her lips were so soft.

"Yeah not bad right?" I questioned kind of scared for her answer.

"Oh totally. So are you guys talking outside of school? Like any other things I should know?" She asked wiggling her eyebrows with a smile on her face.

"No, we don't talk outside of school. And there's nothing more." I sighed thinking about how sad it all sounds. "And after we kissed, I wanted to talk about it more but she didn't. She literally just played it off like it never happened. But she also confessed to wanting us to kiss again, but said we couldn't no matter how much she wanted it. And then in the hall way she looked like she regretted saying it, but that could be other things."

"First of all, that's a little sad, so we'll fix that. Second, that's not cool of her. Seriously, she kisses you and then wants to pretend that nothing happened? It's not possible because of course it happened. I mean I guess she's thinking about the logical stuff but like putting your heart on hold isn't great."
