Chapter XXXIII : The Beginning

I raised my head when I heard my name called in front. My eyes immediately landed on Mishka who is now waiting for me in front of the massive door. I almost got choked when someone behind me tries to pull the hood of my cloak.

"That was rough," I muttered to myself when I finally got away from the fearsome crowd.

"My condolences, Mishka," I whispered and her hug tightened.

"It was too sudden but it is predicted. It's good that we are informed about his condition months ago, it didn't become very surprising for us," she said after breaking the hug and started to walk down the hallway. I held Mishka's hand as I watch the entire hallway and be amused on how its ceiling is so high.

"How are you and Sage?" I asked.

"We're fine. We are sad of course but we can't do anything about it. We have a huge responsibility ahead of us, especially Sage. His coronation is in two days," she said and it made me silent.

If I try to stop his coronation, the whole kingdom of Modroust will come for my head. That is not a good choice. I've been thinking of my plan since yesterday, I know it's stupid but I have no other choice. I plan to kidnap Sage and take him far away from here. He will never leave their kingdom hanging.

A familiar coat of Vern's uniform is hanging peacefully on its backrest.

"I will leave you two," paalam ni Mishka bago nito marahang hinaplos ang likuran ko. Tumango naman ako rito at ngumiti.

I watched as Mishka exits the room while Sage went straight in front of his table. He leaned on it just like what he did yesterday in the council's office.

"Mishka said you've called for me here," I said. He answered me with a single nod and crosses his arms in front of his chest. There's something different in his eyes today, maybe it's grief, I'm not sure what it is.

"Marry me." My heart jumped from my chest on what he said. I tried reading his eyes but I couldn't figure out what his eyes are trying to tell me.

"What are you saying?"

"My coronation will be in two days. Marry me tomorrow."

"Hold on Sage. This is something you cannot discuss without your royal advisor."

"You're refusing?" Natigilan ako at hindi kaagad nakasagot. Of course not, I am the most willing person to be his wife. If he wants to marry me tomorrow, it's fine with me. But I'm thinking about the full moon and his coronation. There's still a lot of things to prioritize and marriage is definitely not the first one.
