EMERY HAD JUST GOTTEN off the phone with Damon who told her about Bonnie's and Elena's attempt to kill each other when she received a text from an unknown number.

Unknown : You don't know me but this is important. Can we talk?

The witch furrowed her brows at the weird message before she scoffed and replied with, 'No? Maybe start with an introduction first.'

Unknown : Sorry. Look, my name is Sophie Deveraux and I'm a witch in New Orleans. You're the last Grant witch alive, Emery. You're also close to Klaus which means you're the only one who can help us. Please.

All of that was screaming danger to the witch, yet she couldn't help but feel like it was somewhat important. She decided to indulge Sophie.

Emery : Help you with that?

Sophie : I can't tell you over text. It's not safe. Would it be possible for you to come to New Orleans so we can talk?

Emery : I don't have a death wish. How do I know you aren't some serial killer?

Sophie :  I'm not. I'm a witch, just like you. You can trust me. You know Hayley, right? She's with us. She's the one who gave me your number. She said she got it from some Tyler guy. You can ask her if you want.

Emery : I'll think about it.

Sophie : Thank you. Please don't take too long though.

Emery didn't bother replying to that one. She set her phone aside and picked up her paintbrush again.

She was in Klaus's art room, making yet another art of him. Despite everything he did, the love she felt for him was beyond words—it flowed through her veins, igniting a fire within her. It was weird, but she couldn't help it. Maybe she was crazy for feeling so strongly towards him even though he felt exactly the same.

With utmost devotion, she translated that fiery passion onto paper, meticulously sketching every detail of Klaus's artistic endeavor. As her pencil glided across the page, she wove together a masterpiece that depicted him in his element, lost in a realm of colors and strokes. Each stroke of the pencil breathed life into the portrait, capturing not only Klaus's physical appearance, but also the very essence of his being.

Emery's eyes danced with excitement as she poured her heart and soul into the sketch, ensuring that every line and shade reflected his unique energy and spirit. She marveled at her creation, unable to tear her gaze away from the mesmerizing image she had conjured. Nestled within each stroke, she could almost feel the echoes of Klaus's passion resonating deep within her. For a moment, time ceased to exist as Emery immersed herself in this profound expression, channeling her emotions onto the canvas.

It might be her best work yet. And she couldn't wait for him to see it. She had no idea where he went, but he did tell her that he was going to see what Rebekah was up to. Emery knew he was up to no good. She couldn't help but feel bad for Rebekah.

"What are you doing?" His voice startled her, almost making her jump. She turned around, seeing him standing there and the first thing she did was take in his appearance to check whether he had blood anywhere on him. She internally sighed in relief when she saw none.

"That's me." He muttered, his eyes going straight to the canvas. It wasn't the first time she was painting him, his art room was filled with his own portrays— and hers. He'd paint her every so often and vice-versa. Klaus loved the life he had seemed to build with the witch. He never wanted it to end. "Looks like you're obsessed with me," he teased, gesturing a finger around them to prove his point. "Aren't you, love?"

"So are you," she mimicked his action, placing the palette in her hands aside. "So . . . what did you do?"

He tilted his head to the side, feigning innocence. "Why do you assume I did something?"

"Because you are you," Emery said as if it was obvious.

"I didn't do anything that bad," the hybrid muttered. "Rebekah had no chance at becoming a human either way. I know my sister."

"Whatever you say," she sighed before remembering the texts. "Have you ever been to New Orleans?"

Klaus furrowed his brows in confusion, "why are we talking about New Orleans?"

"I'm curious," Emery shrugged. "Do you know anyone there?"

"We used to live here," he told her. "A long time ago. I do know a few people there, yes." He had a small smile playing on his lips as he stared at her. "Coming to think of it, it's a great place. Full of music, art. . . Fun. You would've loved it. Are you interested in going someday?"

"Maybe. I don't know." She wasn't going to tell him that she planned on going alone to see what the deal with the witches were. She knew most witches hated Klaus, and she wasn't going to take any chances by telling him about Sophie, knowing he'd want to go with her. She resolved to proceed with caution, determined to evaluate the situation herself before placing him in the hands of an entire coven of witches.
