(the one with all the pancakes)

I turned around to see his brown gaze staring directly at me. His shocked expression was obvious. It was as if he was caught between the surprise of having found us singing there, and the shock of us acknowledging his presence.

"I...um...eh...Isaiah." He mumbled incoherently. "I am in..."

"My English class, yeah." I finally talked, remembering Isaiah as one of the guys that sat behind me. The one that glared at me, yeah.

"Yeah." He touched the back of his neck. "What are you...um...doing here?" He was nervous and it was obvious. However, we shouldn't be where we were and Isaiah seemed to know it.

"I wanted Gabby to show me some songs that she wrote." Harry shrugged. "Is there a problem with it?" Even though Harry's words were almost threatening, his tone softened his message.

"No." Isaiah laughed awkwardly, his cheeks turning pink. "I was just wondering because I didn't know you..." He pointed at me. "Could sing so well. And you...you play guitar too?" I felt myself blushing now. I have to admit that Isaiah was very attractive. He was the kind of guy in high school that you knew would never look at me.

"She plays more than ten instruments." Harry commented, as if bragging about me. "She also writes songs."

"Oh." Isaiah laughed, now staring at me. "Was that...?" He looked at me, as if asking me to complete his own question.

"That song?" I asked obliviously after a second of realization. "Yeah, I wrote it for Harry's band." I stated simply. "I don't know if they'll take it though. I have many more, that's just one of them. I only played that one, because it was easy to play acoustically."

"They should." Isaiah blurted out, and both Harry and I stared at him, implying that we didn't understood what he meant. "I mean, they should use your song. It's really good."

"Thank you." I responded smilingly and Isaiah smiled back at me, staying in that awkward position for a moment.

"I...uh..." He scratched the back of his neck again. "Drums."

"You play drums?" I filled onto Isaiah's words' blanks.

"Yeah." He replied, and Harry and I nodded. "And I um...could help you with your songs. I mean, playing them. If you want to only."

"That would be great, if that's not too much to ask." I talked back not even waiting for Harry to react.

"It's not, it's not." Isaiah smiled statically for a second, and then reacted. "I also have a friend, I could call him, so he can help us with the guitar." He stopped, but then kept going. "I'm not saying that you're not good with the guitar. You're amazing. It's just that like he said that you could play more instruments, you could play another while Chris fills you in the guitar..."

Both Harry and I smiled at how awkward Isaiah was.

"Yeah, it sounds good." I grinned. "Call your friend and we can get everything set."

*

Waiting for Isaiah's friend Chris wasn't half as awkward as I thought it would be. We mostly spent the time fixing the instruments and the place.
