NAIVETY, YOUR PAL

My words
Got swallowed
By the lack
Of interest
To hear
What I
Wanted to
Tell.

Eyes evading
Smile faltering
Became invisible
A part of the view
Inside the crowd.

I thought.
I would not talk
Would not bother.
But then
She was a friend,
I shouldn't ignore.

So then I laughed
We cheered and mingled
But after I told
A story I kept
She went ahead
Ears were folded.

The rush I felt
Crushed to bits
How I regret
Smiling to please
I brought
To myself
Became a figure
Of a clown
To tease.

Realized
That I should shush
For no one
In here
Wants to listen
They were
Not genuine.
I guess,
I have,
Talked too much.
