Running and napping

Start from the beginning

She either gets really pissed off at everything and everyone, or she gets really clingy. Sometimes both.

Sam: Yeah. She either gets cranky or clingy. Or both. How's she handling this? Me being gone? She says she's ok, but I don't believe her. I know her better than that.

Dean: She really misses you, and she doesn't know how to handle you not being here. The last time somebody in her life left to go on a hunt, she lost her Mom. So she not only misses you, but she's paranoid about losing you.

I understand why she's paranoid, but it's hard to get her to understand that Sam's gonna come back, and that he's gonna be fine. It's like somewhere in the back of her mind, she thinks that Sam's gonna die on this hunt. I get why. It's just hard to watch her be so paranoid about something that's not gonna happen.

Sam: I tried explaining to her that I'm gonna come back, but she doesn't believe me. I don't think she'll believe me, until she sees me in person again.

Dean: She's just worried about you. You're like her Dad. She loves you, and she doesn't want anything bad to happen to you. She knows what can happen on hunts, and she doesn't want anything to happen to you.

Sam: I know. I'm trying to finish this up, faster than I was supposed to. I wanna come home early, but certain things have to be done in certain ways. This is gonna take a little while.

Dean: Just be safe, so you can come home to your child.

Sam: Of course. Tell her to call me later. Whenever she wants to.

Dean: She's probably gonna call you, to tell you how mean I am.

Sam: Definitely.🤣

Dean: 🤣

Sam: I gotta go. I'll talk to you later.

Dean: 👍🏻

After about an hour, I'm falling asleep on the couch, watching whatever channel this is, when I hear small footsteps heading towards the living room.

Sky: De?

Dean: I'm in here, Sweetheart.

She walks in, looking like she just woke up. She doesn't look upset anymore, just tired.

Dean: You ok?

Sky: I can't find my shoes. She says while rubbing her eyes, like she's still tired.

Dean: What do you need your shoes for, right now?

Sky: I wanna go outside. Duh.

Dean: You wanna go run around outside?

Sky: You said I can't run in the house, so I'm going outside.

Dean: You sure you don't wanna go back go sleep? You look like you're still tired.

Sky: I'm fine. I just wanna go outside.

Dean: I think you should finish your nap, first. Then you can go outside.

She's still rubbing her eyes, every few seconds, so I know that she's still tired. Something either woke her up, or she woke up on her own to go to the bathroom. Either way, she wasn't ready to wake up. But she'll never tell me that. No. She'd rather fight with me about it, even though I can clearly see that she's still tired.

Sky: First, you said I had to go outside if I wanted to run. And now, you're saying that I have to finish my nap, first, if I wanna go outside to run.

Dean: Sweetheart, I think you ran enough today, actually. It's obviously tired you out, and you look exhausted. Go finish your nap, and I'll let you go outside, and you can run around all you want to.

Sky: I think I'm old enough to decide how much sleep I need.

You're right. You are. You're old enough to decide how much sleep you need. But you still don't sleep enough. So this tells me that you do know how much sleep you need. You just don't give a damn.

Dean: Yet, you still stay up all night, and you refuse to sleep when you know you need to. You're right. You're old enough to decide how much sleep you need. You just don't do it, though.

She doesn't say anything. She just stands there, looking at me like I just offended her. Even after all this, she's definitely gonna go finish her nap, anyway.

Sky: I wanna play Minecraft.

Or maybe she'll just change her mind on what she wants to do. Maybe she'll just fight me on it, until she's too tired to fight, and then she'll finally go to sleep. Or maybe she'll just fight me all day, because she never gets tired of fighting. It's like her favorite thing to do. Fighting with me is her favorite hobby. Even though she very often gets absolutely nothing out of it.

Dean: Sweetheart-

Sky: I wanna do some stuff, and you won't let me do anything, and I'm tired. I just wanna play Minecraft and build some stuff.

Dean: You can do whatever you wanna do, after you finish your nap, Sweetheart.

Sky: Can I sit with you?

Dean: Baby, you live here. You don't have to ask to sit.

Even before she lived here, she'd ask to do basic stuff, in her own home. Nobody knew why. Not even her Mom. We're not gonna make her feel bad about it, though. We're just gonna keep letting her know that she doesn't have to ask.

Sky: Is that a yes or a no?

Dean: That's a yes, Baby.

She walks over to me and sits down next to me. She watches this show with me, for a few minutes, and then I see her reach over and grab the couch blanket. She throws it over herself and leans on me, like she's getting ready to go to sleep.

Dean: You wanna finish your nap, now?

Sky: Yeah. But I want you to stay with me.

I'm actually about to fall asleep, too, so that's not a problem.

Dean: I'm not going anywhere. I might even take a nap, too.

She yawns and wraps the blanket even more around herself. She makes herself comfortable, and soon enough, she's asleep. I finish this episode of whatever this show is, and it's not long after that that I fall asleep, too.
