That First Glimpse

Meeting up with a long-lost friend (or ex-boyfriend/girlfriend): Consider how you might describe the person.

Think of school days and nostalgia seeps in. Spending endless hours playing outdoors boisterously, battling exam fever and nervousness before the judgement day, bunking school to indulge in every possible thing that a teenage is refrained to do is so very missed. But what makes it utmost special is the first crush and the first feeling of falling in love. That memory is inseparable and becomes a weak spot forever.

School reunion was that opportunity to go down the memory lane and rekindle the long lost friendships. As I entered the huge assembly hall of our school premises, meeting my crazy friends was undoubtedly euphoric. But my eyes were dying to get a glimpse of that one face which I longed to see once in this lifetime. A studious girl with piggy ponytails and a pretty face behind huge glasses; a sight which I fondly remember. Feeling disappointed that she may have chosen to miss the reunion; I thought to leave. And there she entered clad in a spectacular white salwar kameez looking like a Diva walking into the hall spreading exuberance all over.

I couldn't believe my eyes to see the transformation that she underwent from a teen to a beautiful young lady. Those piggy tails turned into long ,soft curls that looked splendid on her charming face. Her flawless and radiant skin made me skip my heartbeat. Her breathtaking smile was made me fall in love with her at the very moment. As she walked towards me in her stilettos , I was totally dumbstruck and goofed up the entire conversation..

Her poise and stature was spell bounding and indeed. The last time when I saw her at the camp, I was glued to the hidden beauty beneath her scholarly looking glasses and her simplistic looks but what I witnessed now was beyond my wildest imagination. As she walked onto the podium to recite the poetry that she had penned , each and every eye was mystified with the beauty ,grace and persona that she exhumed. She stood so confidently showcasing a perfect blend of beauty, brains and panache that I fell in love with her all over again.
