"Please wait here till someone comes around" the nurse had said as she walked away from my chair, presumably to talk to the next person in front of me. In just a few minutes, it would be time. Time for my worst nightmare, something I've been dreading for the past 2 weeks. I can just imagine it all in my head. The needle comes down, plunging into my arm as the pain shoots throughout my entire body. The only reason I'm doing this is that it'll ensure my safety from COVID to get the vaccine. I then tried to look out the high window. It was quite a sunny day and I was thinking about if maybe some form of divine intervention would come and prevent it from happening. While I was lost in my fantasies, I was brought back to earth by the voice of what seemed to be another nurse. It was now my turn and she started by asking me a few medical questions, as that was the standard procedure. She looked nice and gave a kind feeling. I could just see it in her eyes and I instantly relaxed and answered the questions, giggling on a few. Once the questioning session had finished, she carefully explained what she was going to do. As I was right-handed, she would insert the vaccine into my left arm and then in case of side effects, I would then have to wait for 15 minutes before I was free to go. She also said that it would be over quickly and that she could 'feel my nervousness'. Despite all the reassurances, I was still scared, albeit not as much as before. I looked away and gripped the chair leg tightly and I felt the needle being inserted into my arm. It...didn't hurt? The kind nurse told me it was over and then proceeded to put on a bandage and lead me to the waiting area. It took only 5 minutes and when I came for my next one, I felt like I had gotten over my fear.
